YMCA MONTESSORI REVIEW: Unsafe environment, woefully lacking compassionate leadership and executive level oversight. The school director who has been there for years lacks the passion, experience and qualifications to manage and foster a safe learning environment, and the YMCA executive leadership is either oblivious to this, or they simply don’t care. A wise early childhood educator once told me, “if you want to know what kind of Pre-School you are dealing with, first get to know the director; observe them, meet with them, learn about their reputation, because the school can have the most wonderful staff, but if the director is bad, nothing else matters - the student experience will be bad too.” That is exactly what our experience was at the Boothbay Region YMCA Montessori School. We removed our child and wish we would have done that sooner. Recommend you explore other childcare / Pre-K options - even if you have to drive a little further.
