YMCA MONTESSORI REVIEW: Unsafe environment, woefully lacking compassionate leadership and executive level oversight. The school director who has been there for years lacks the passion, experience and qualifications to manage and foster a safe learning environment, and the YMCA executive leadership is either oblivious to this, or they simply don’t care. A wise early childhood educator once told me, “if you want to know what kind of Pre-School you are dealing with, first get to know the director; observe them, meet with them, learn about their reputation, because the school can have the most wonderful staff, but if the director is bad, nothing else matters - the student experience will be bad too.” That is exactly what our experience was at the Boothbay Region YMCA Montessori School.
