Hannaford — Local services in Boothbay Harbor

I’m a BBH resident and this is my go to store. I find myself making more and more trips to Damariscotta to get items I had previously found in the closest Hannaford. Today I returned home without Activia Pro biotic yogurt drink. Please do not suggest a substitute. This product makes a difference to me. But the bigger issue is that my grocery revenue is being forced to go to another store, and once you leave Boothbay Harbor there are non Hannaford choices as well. I prefer to not leave town. It’s a small store and probably doesn’t warrant keeping a larger selection. I’m getting frustrated to the point where I’m getting ready to plan a trip to a larger market and skip BBH altogether. Except for alcohol! They seem to find room in the very narrow aisles to have one complete aisle dedicated to alcohol. One side complete with spirits and the other side totally wine. I am always amazed at the variety of groceries that are squeezed into a smaller supermarket. The staff are great, the produce is fresh, and they even feature local farmers with products like corn and berries that are from local farms. I'm sure they feel pressured by the influx of "summer folk" and the aisles can get crowded, but with patience and understanding and plenty of smiles, even the 4th of July or other mid-summer days will go smoothly. Take an extra minute to stow your shopping cart (and an extra) in the corral, nesting small with small and large with large. I have been living up the street from this market for three years. There are no other grocery stores in Boothbay Harbor. In the off season ( Oct. to April ) the prices are just high. On season, wwhhooaatch out. Example: Avocados off season 1$ each, in tourist season 2.69$ each. Another example : The tote like bags at the register for those who must carry their food home.
