Dear Gym Management Team,
I can’t believe I’m writing this today, but I feel compelled to share an incident that took place at your gym on November 6, 2024, which left me feeling disrespected and concerned about the conduct of your staff.
Upon arriving at the gym, I scanned in, began my workout on the treadmill, and was approached by an employee who politely asked if he could speak to me about my account. I was happy to discuss this, so we went to the front desk. There, I was informed that the account holder I am under had an outstanding balance for the past two months, resulting in the deactivation of my membership. I was told I would need to pay a re-enrollment fee and the first month’s membership dues upfront to continue as a member.
As someone who has been a loyal member for over three years, coming to the gym multiple times within the last two months, I was taken aback by the lack of prior warning regarding the account status. The manager on duty was condescending in her tone, repeatedly emphasizing that there was “absolutely no chance” the enrollment fee would be waived. Although I was willing to pay for my upcoming month, her attitude made me reconsider rejoining immediately. Instead, I chose to purchase a day pass to give myself time to consider my options, given that the enrollment fee is a significant $100.
After this initial interaction, I went about my workout and used the sauna without further issue. However, as I was leaving, the same manager approached me and, in a condescending manner, informed me that she had “heard” I referred to the front desk staff as “stupid” along with other disparaging names. I was genuinely appalled and asked for clarification. She claimed to have received “intel” from “someone” that I had made insulting remarks.
My response was twofold. First, I expressed my concern over the fact that my private conversation had seemingly been eavesdropped on. Second, I informed her that this information was incorrect—I had been speaking privately with a friend, jokingly, and my words were taken entirely out of context. The accusation was not only unfounded but left me feeling highly disrespected.
This interaction, combined with the gym’s issues with frequently malfunctioning equipment, has seriously damaged my impression of this facility. I have tolerated equipment issues in the past, but being confronted and falsely accused in such a manner is something I cannot overlook. I do not know the name of the manager in question, but she was on duty at the front desk around 12:30 p.m. on November 6, 2024. Please feel free to consult your schedule to determine her name if you wish to discuss this matter further.
I have always valued a positive and respectful environment, but this experience has made me reconsider my membership. I hope that you take this feedback seriously and consider addressing the conduct of your staff to ensure other members do not feel similarly disrespected.
Thank you for your time. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience to discuss this matter...
Read moreI have been a member here for about a year and a half now. I do have to say I absolutely love this facility and the equipment it has. It has a lot of space and is very clean. My reason for removing a star, hopefully temporarily, is due to the following:
These are my current main concerns and I am hopeful that sharing this can allow management and Kevin to understand a few things that can make this gym so much greater! I do love it here and I've had such great workouts. However, the above are issues I do not expect a gym of this size and quality to have. Again, many compliments are to be said of this wonderful facility, but I am hoping we can work on the above. Many members would be...
Read moreIf I could give this place no stars I would. Be warned: their termination policy stinks & is equal to robbery. I put my membership on medical freeze in December 2020 & the freeze would have been effective through July 2021. Because my problem hasn't been resolved & may not be by July I decided to terminate my membership today, 3/10/2021. I found out that in order for me to terminate my "inactive" membership (thought it was only frozen), it would have to be in active status. Reactivating my membership gave them the ability to charge me for April, & then the termination would be effective in May because of the 30-day notice clause in the contract. My issue with this is that first, my membership was on medical hold through July so wouldn't this fulfill the "30-day" notice policy? Which is ridiculous because some situations, like losing a job, doesn't give you 30 days!!! And second, if my membership was "inactive" & can't be terminated, then how can my membership AUTOMATICALLY reinstate come July 1 & monthly fees charged without me coming in to activate it? If I an "inactive" membership can't be terminated without activation, then it certainly cannot & SHOULD NOT be reactivated automatically without member signature especially if it's on medical hold. It's just a way to get more money out of people. It's like a termination fee. I have been a member at other gyms & never heard of this. When I was a member at Gold's & Powerhouse I was able to terminate my membership effective immediately & no charge the next month. This guy is a millionaire & feels the need to take people for one extra month?? It doesn't look like he's hurting for money so how's one month going to hurt him every once in a while when a member decides to terminate regardless of reason? What's $59 to him? Especially during a time when people are hurting because of lost wages. Shame on him. Only in America. So for that reason I will not be going back to Team 85 & I wouldn't recommend that gym to any of my friends or anyone who asks. I should find a good attorney & sue him for aggravation & financial hardship....
