When planning a wedding, it's easy to fall into the mindset that every.detail.matters, but in this case, my fiancé's bowtie really DID matter. He's not a flashy dude, but he is a purposeful dude in all manners of self expression and he was stoked for the opportunity to wear a bona fide bowtie for our upcoming wedding. But what bowtie would ever be worthy of such an event?? He knew he didn't want something generic from David's Bridal or Men's Warehouse, and he gosh darn it, he wanted to tie it himself. He also wanted something that looked great, but could carry significance as a keepsake for years to come. Enter: TopoTies from Kind Design. Med Bow Peak in WY's Snowy Range has always been special to him, and we spent our engagement weekend camping there. When we stumbled upon Kind Design and the opportunity to design his own tie to capture a place so significant to us, we were so excited! The design process was simple and straightforward. We picked the spot and the colors, and worked with Damon to approve the proof. When the tie arrived, it was even prettier than we imagined. The quality of the tie is wonderful, and the topographical detail and labeling of the peak give it the significance we were seeking without feeling showy or ostentatious. Sure, a bowtie won't make or break the day, but it's details such as these that will live on with us in years to come and we're so grateful Kind Design partnered with us to make it all the...

I ordered a topo tie for my husband to wear for our wedding and I gave it as a gift the morning of our wedding. The topo tie was the perfect subtle, sentimental and beautiful touch we had on wedding day. A few years ago we did a thru hike of The Foothills Trail. It took us 6 days and really tested us physically and mentally. That trip was a huge part of us and how we work as a team. We both ended up mentioning the hike in our vows. Working with Kind Design to have the custom tie was a great experience. I entered in the coordinates of The Foothills Trail and picked one of the many options for colors. Kind Design took care of everything from acquiring the map to showing me proofs along the way and making adjustments. I picked a color that was slightly different from the groomsmen ties and it looked great. The business is small and locally owned in Boulder, CO and they believe in giving back to preserve our beautiful lands, this is a huge bonus that I am happy to support! The whole way through I could feel the effort on their end to make it a great experience. I highly recommend a custom topo tie from Kind Design, it was a special part of our day and I am so lucky to...

My husband and I ordered a custom tie from Kind Designs for our wedding, featuring the Green River’s Labyrinth Canyon, a very meaningful location for us. We ordered the tie fabric swatch grid to pick out a color, which was critical to our decision-making, even if it was tough to narrow down with so many great color options. We settled on the color “Canyon” (only kiiind of biased by our having a canyon topo map image), and they helped us with a few rounds of digital prototypes for the layout of the map on the skinny tie. We were able to fit our favorite river features on the best parts of the tie with their help, and the final product was beautiful, complete with the coordinates of our original point printed on the back. Working with Kind Design was awesome, the tie was perfect for our wedding theme of topographic maps of the meaningful places of our life, and it was special to get to support a small local company where we live in Boulder, Colorado. We’d absolutely recommend working with them!
