This particular hotel is partnered with a local domestic violence program who temporarily house, domestic violence, victims, or survivors. I was placed here with my three children in a double bed room, Our second day, both of my youngest kids Became ill with a stomach bug, I went downstairs to ask the front desk clerk, if there were any way to relocate to a room with the door/Balcony that way, I’m able to air the room out since I have two vomiting toddlers. After looking in the computer, the clerk told me that he would, but all of the rooms with balconies are booked up. I went back to my room and ordered personal hygiene items to take a shower , and I noticed a very strong smell coming from the bathroom. I noticed this smell before, but i Honestly thought that it was one of my kids diapers until I realize they were sick so they didn’t poop. There was a standup shower in the bathroom and it smelled like stagnant sewer water was right below the drain. I went back downstairs to tell the clerk & He told me that he would send maintenance up to fix the problem, but instead he sent housekeeping to clean the bathroom. after she was done cleaning, she stated that she don’t know what else to do to fix the smell. I went downstairs for a third time and informed the same clerk that his solution did not work and he informed me that he had no other rooms and the only option he had was to put me in my three kids in a single king bedroom. I told him that I would just call the program that I was a part of to see if there was any way they could help me find better arrangements, which I did and the program informed me that there should be no issue moving me to a different room if I’m having a problem in my current room . when I return downstairs, the shift had changed, and I was speaking to a female. I explained the problem and informed that I told her coworker, and I explained the options that the coworker gave me. She not only gave us a different room, but she also upgraded us to a room with the balcony, and there was also a sink allowing me to wash out bottles for my toddler. She informed me that she Does not understand why he said the things he said and did not give me better options Since there were plenty of rooms available with the balcony and double bed. A couple of days later, I saw the same mail clerk at the desk and I asked him what was it that made him not honor my request When his coworker was able to do it with no problem. He Told me that The person who gave me a different room, actually upgraded me, which I knew she did. But in all of my experiences with the hotel, if there is a valid complaint about the room, usually you are upgraded to compensate for the inconvenience. He proceeded to tell me that they usually don’t upgrade rooms for people in the domestic violence program. I asked him “even if I have a valid complaint , am I not a customer because I’m going through the domestic violence program?” “so because I am a domestic violence survivor in a program. That means that I pretty much have to deal with a room that has a bathroom that smells like everybody’s poop.?” It also made me Realized that this person lied to me the day before when he pretended to look in his computer and tell me that all of the rooms that he could’ve put me in were booked up and now on this day, he’s telling me it’s because I’m in the program. he clearly lied and I honestly felt judged. Im a black woman, I recently took my hair down, which made me look a bit different, I am not a bad person, a dirty person or a liar so why did this clerk have to lie to me about relocating me too a room where I feel comfortable at the comfort Inn. The other girl had no problem and there were plenty of rooms available. His name is Isaiah And I usually don’t do these type of reviews, but it just feels terrible to go through a domestic violence situation drive across the country to be in this program just to be Told that because I’m in a program, I pretty much have to deal with a stinky room or one king bed for me...
Read morePositives: (1) Very friendly staff.
(2) Breakfast: excellent – it may be equaled within the Choice chain, but not exceeded. A++
(3) The bed and bedding were extremely comfortable. The comfort of both well exceeded my expectations.
Negatives: (1) I felt the daily rate was too high (especially after seeing the hotel in-person), but I luckily used my Rewards to mitigate the price.
(2) It’s an older hotel – old furnishings.
(3) My shower had a leak that produced a puddle across the floor – in the same spot each time (3-showers).
(4) Bathroom wall cracks – and a minor thing but it shows a lack of detail, the sink fixture was changed at one point (a positive) but the old fixture had a larger opening and the space around it was not filled-in with grout or caulk (again, it just shows a [lazy] lack of detail).
(5) Old-style exterior-to-interior wall heat & AC unit (no thermostat): I was there when it was cold, thus if the heat were [constantly] on the room was warm but also exceedingly DRY (you just cannot satisfactorily regulate heat [or AC] with these - even at the lowest setting).
(6) My biggest gripe: there were no – as in none, as in zero – open wall AC outlets. The only visible outlet had the TV and refrigerator plugged in. There was a multiple outlet on the nightstand – with two ACs and two USBs. That’s a nice feature – if it works. I inserted my USB cable to charge my phone. After 15-20 minutes, it increased only 2%. I then made a phone call with it plugged in, and the charge percentage remained the same pre and post-call. I plugged in my iPad via the standard AC, and that seemed to provide adequate charging, but I can only image that if two USB-cables were plugged in simultaneously, the charging rate through USB would be even worse. Out was fine for an overnight charge, but if you needed to plug it in for 15-20 minutes for a quick charging boost - my room's charger didn't work for that.
(7) Minor gripe: the "hotel lobby store" was not in operation (empty cooler, refrigerators). My floor's vending machine was empty - I lost $2. Big deal. I went to another floor, inserted my money, received my Cola and it was warm. I then noticed this scrolling across the vending machine: "Ice Cold Coke 70F". Luckily there was an ice machine back on my floor.
In summary, I wouldn’t necessarily seek out this property in the future, but it was very convenient to a business I was visiting. If I were to go back to that business, I’d happily stay here again. Otherwise - if you're a traveler passing through and want comfort & a great breakfast, this place is 5-stars. But if you're planning to stay for multiple days, I'd...
Read moreThis hotel experience has been DREADFUL from begining to end it has been one of the most disappointing encounters I've experienced ever . From the beging we called the hotel to verify they would take a photo of our ID, and weee assured the front desk would allow us to use a photo of my boyfriends ID. We then proceeded to pay for 2 rooms for 2 night(after a extra $100 being added onto our guaranteed price) we arrived at the hotel. First and foremost the front desk attendant "Dan" was not only rude and short with us but he refused to let us book a room for that night (a new transaction) untill someone with a valid ID was there in person to book the room and stay in it. After many frantic calls in the late hour we found a friend willing to come stay with us. Once he arrived to book our room "Dan" the front desk attendant informed us it was "Too Late" for us to book a room. After making us go through all the effort to meet their standards the process was not easily or quickly achieved but we managed to jump through all their hoops only to be told they were refusing to let us book a room. Not because there weren't any available, online and from his own words rooms were available, we were just being refused access to them for no apparent reason. Furthermore if we were to be refused access to the room "Dan" should have told us straight away instead of making us go on a wild goose chase just to deny is in the end. i have lived here in boulder my entire life and stayed at this hotel many times without issue, I am not sure why tonight this person at the desk was so rude and confrontational but it seemed to me there was some prejudice towards me and my boyfriend, possibly due to us being a inter racial couple. I do not know why or care to imagine what would posses someone to treat paying customers in such a horrible way. I only hope that other customers do not receive similar treatment for no good reason. We will be calling and hopefully finding a way to cancel or otherwise be compensated for our non refundable booking for the...
