Not a fan of this place. That is absolutely amazing that they have 4.6 stars and they are so undeserving of that there wasn’t a single thing I think they did right. Let’s start with the beverages: there’s no alcohol. Can I have a margarita? Nope. The tortilla chips weren’t fully cooked and therefore there were many of my chips that were extremely chewy, like to the point where I couldn’t bite through them and I had to yank them from my teeth fully clenched down with all my biting might. Salsa: I can and have made better myself. Next up, the tacos. These things were puny. These would not fill up a toddler. I could probably eat about 10 of these. The Al pastor did not have pineapple so that’s unacceptable. Before you serve rubbery tortillas for tacos you should throw them on a flat top or pan on hot heat with a little bit of oil, they should not be rubbery and raw tortillas. Ok, I'm just an extremely average person and could absolutely dominate you in a taco cook off. I'd be scared to try anything else on the menu because it seems like you couldn't get a single thing remotely correct. The entire experience eating here was horrible. Also: here’s a dead giveaway - there’s nobody eating here!!! Place is DEADSVILLE ON A SATURDAY!!! so ya, take the hint and leave to go somewhere else. Please don’t waste your time. People write this place high reviews because they feel bad for this place or they have personal relationship with the owners or something. Here's places you can go instead: sancho's, Efrains, McDevitt, literally any other Mexican joint in town, there are plenty and chances are 100% in your favor that it will be a...
Read moreInconsistent quality and there seems to be a problem with online ordering. I had a truly excellent burrito the first time I went and it's been followed ever since by recurring mediocrity or worse. I've returned a few times every couple months hoping for the magic to re-occur and have remained disappointed. Maybe the key is not to order online for pick-up.
The excellent burrito was ordered in person and every mediocre experience has involved an online order (directly from their website, mind you). I arrive to pick up about 20-25 or so minutes after I order online, and not only has the order never been ready when I get there, they get a look in their eyes like they don't know what order I'm talking about and rush back to the kitchen. I wait 10-20 minutes and they bring me my order. And every time, it's tasted just as rushed and thrown together as one might expect from a forgotten or ignored order. Tonight, though, it tasted like they had a leftover burrito that had been sitting around waiting for an hour or so hoping someone would give it a home.
That first burrito was so good that perhaps I'll give it one more go in a month or two and order in person. We shall see. It's hard to remain forgiving and optimistic, though, when there's another single-location, family-run burrito place in Boulder a couple miles away that is consistently amazing, also involves no sacrilegious smothering of the burrito to death, and is the best burrito I've found in Colorado to date. It's just that sometimes I like a little variety. Maybe they'll come through with an...
Read moreThis family owned and operated restaurant is a must visit. The food is so tasty and flavorful. Using organic corn, they hand make their own masa. It really pays of in the flavor or their tacos, gorditas, and quesadillas. The veggies are locally sourced. The meat is roasted and cooked to perfection. The prices are also very affordable! At the time of this review, they did not have their liquor license, but we were allowed to bring in our own beer, which we brought in from a local brewery. The goal is to have margaritas and more once they get their license. I highly recommend this place, for lunch or dinner, for a date or for the family. I will be sure to return.
*No photos of food because we ate it too fast, but it was super yummy! We tried the chips and guacamole, the burrito with barbacoa, and and combination plate. Even the rice and beans sides...
