Canyon View Credit Union — Local services in Bountiful

Our business has been banking here for the past seven years, but we are currently in the process of transferring, which is why I am leaving this review. Our experience hasn’t been terrible, but I do feel there are a few things I would like to address. My main issue with the bountiful branch is the management. Specifically the branch manager. I feel that her customer service is lacking. She has never been accommodating and willing to help in any situation although we have been banking there for years. I also would like to bring up the fact that the staff turn around is ridiculous. We are constantly seeing new faces there about every 6 to 8 months. It has recently come to my attention that it’s management’s fault and I’m not surprised. I personally cannot stand any business that doesn’t appreciate and treat their employees the way they should be treated. I have never had an issue with the staff and to be honest, even though there were always new faces there I have been welcomed by the staff with smiles and amazing customer service. I’m so disappointed in the way that they are treated and now understand why they leave. I think management needs to be looked at a little closer to be honest. We have also tried many times to apply for business loans and the people we have worked with have been impossible to get a hold of and never call or email us back. I am so SO disappointed with UofU credit union. I’ve been a customer for a few years and recently due to Covid, things started going downhill and my job has been very inconsistent. I walked in to the bountiful branch today asking if I can get a $25 OD fee removed because I was not working and had $16 in my name to deposit. The teller called his boss to try and get it waved and told him my situation (which they can clearly see on my account that my income is barely ANYTHING the last few months) and I was told since they waved a fee once this year that was my one time courtesy. I know this is typical but I am BAFFLED and disgusted that they aren’t being more kind and understanding during their customers hardships. ONE TIME COURTESY regardless of Covid?? Even my credit cards are waving any and all fees! Cyprus credit union is waving fees and even dropped the fee price itself to $12.50! There was no remorse or care in the world that I was on the verge of tears and I decided to walk out without depositing the $16 I had in my hand because I couldn’t afford to have that eaten up for this fee. The fee happened due to a charge that came through a couple days early. I am so disappointed. I could understand if I’ve had many fees waved but they looked at my account and saw I had ONE a few months ago. People are struggling and I expect a local credit union to be more helpful. I started my bank account at the University Credit Union about 5 years ago. We moved here from Alabama where we had a credit union account. I was hesitant to start a new account, hence I stayed with our Alabama Credit Union the first few years we lived in Utah. I decided to stop into the Bountiful office and met Dixie, the branch manager. After one meeting with her I was sold. She is professional, helpful and has a great personality as well. We have since opened multiple accounts for ourselves and children. We have numerous credit cards and an auto loan. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Dixie has been available to answer my phone calls, text messages and emails on the various questions or issues I have. She has given me fantastic advice on where to get the most out of my accounts and really knows how to combine her knowledge with accessibility. It is very important for me to create relationships with the people I do business with and this has happened at the University Federal Credit Union in Bountiful. Thanks...
