I have been going here since the day they opened. Walked in as it was a different shop before they tool over and quickly noticed it was rebranded. Probably one of the first 10 people in the door. For years it was religiously the only place I would bring mine or families vehicles (at least 5 different vehicles including vehicles id built myself). Cathy and her husband were phenomenal. I have recommended countless friends and family members and co-workers to the location.
Unfortunately, it seems as they get larger and more busy, the customer service and quality has declined.
The woman working the counter has no business there. I respect her need for work.. But its not the right place for her.
Still very kind and do trustworthy work... If you can get them to do so. At a very hefty price. Which I never in the past hesitated to pay as you cannot put a price tag on trust However, after my most recent experience I no longer have that trust and will unfortunately no longer be bringing my vehicles here.. I asked for a complete inspection and mentioned a few things I wanted them to pay extra attention to such as, I knew my AC compressor was bad; brakes were going, rear suspension and requested a coolant flush. They called me back less than an hour later stating my vehicle was done... And they had done nothing. I was clear and told them id sold my 2nd vehicle and was willing to put at least 1500 dollars worth of work into the car. They called me back completely uninterested in the job.
It is unfortunate as a good trustworthy mechanic is hard to find. But, I will sadly be looking for a new shop.
UPDATE To KAMs response:
I never once raised my voice in the 3 times i had to call and ask for more details. The fact that you say I did is ridiculous and shameful. "I thought you were better than that", cathy. I simply asked to speak with Cathy as the women who answered the phone was simply wasting our time and unhelpful. I asked for a FULL inspection and was called 30 minutes later telling me my vehicle was done (and nothing was done to it). I then restated i wanted a full inspection and asked to pay special attention to brake and suspension. They called me back and stated I need new front brakes pads. (Didnt point out that my master cylinder was leaking which they would have noticed during a full inspection). I again had to ask about suspension at which time I requested to speak to Cathy as once again the women who answered the phone did not request a full inspection to the techs. Cathy still refused to give me a quote and explain what would be needed stating (its an old car. Didnt think youd want to fix it). Even though i had clearly stated "I sold my vehicle to do maintenance and repair the lumina".. Had they been willing to go over the car like requested we could have discused a plan to proceed, how ever they made it clear "the car is old" and they didn't want my business any longer.
5 years ago this location replaced my entire AC system with brand new components throughout for $800. This time she quoted me over $800 for just replacing the compressor.
I got my brakes AC and rear suspension done for less than $1300 elsewhere. And I was clear that I was willing to spend at least 1500 in repairs as I sold another vehicle to complete maintenance on the lumina.
As for not having left a review, I spread my review via word of mouth. I sent at least 20 different people through this location in the...
Read moreKAM Auto is NOW Apex Auto. This review is in no way reflective of what used to be KAM Auto. I was a patron of KAM for years. We consistently used KAM for our 3-car household's auto needs and made multiple referrals to their business.
That being said, my most recent experience caused me to never want to see the inside of the formerly known KAM auto. I took my car to get an oil change and noticed that my bill was $30 more than usual. At that time, I was advised that oil changes allowed for up to 5 quarts of oil and my car held 5.2 quarts. That is when I was told that KAM AUTO was sold and is now Apex Automotive so prices will be different. They still answer the phone as KAM Auto although their bills now show Apex Automotive. I would never have known.
Well, I paid the money for the higher-than-normal oil change and left. When I arrived home, I noticed a clean slice in my car seat. It appeared as if a sharp object had cut through it. I called and asked them about it. They told me to bring the car back so that they could see. I was advised that my SWEAT caused the rip in the car seat. My car is a 2020 model with less than the normal mileage and none of the other car seats or sides of my seat suffered from a clean CUT in the material. They offered to fix it and completed a patchwork job as the cut is still there today.
Once I was told my car was ready after the patch repair, we made our way back to the shop to see Amber driving off in it. We were told someone was taking it for a car wash and to come back! Why would you call to say my car was ready if it were not? Well, when we returned to pick it up, there was NO CAR WASH. We were told that the car wash company did a bad job. It was clear to see that my car had not been washed and was taken somewhere for God knows what but I digress. After the higher price, cut in my seat, and being told a dirty car had been washed, I decided to never patronize this business again. Unfortunately, I am left looking for a mechanic with the same ethics and expertise as KAM. I can tell you that the service has and will continue to decline with reviews to...
Read moreBeware of bait and switch. Last week, I received a quoted price and scheduled an appointment. Upon arrival, the service advisor I had spoken with was not there. The advisor that was there (David) claimed my appointment was never put into the computer, blaming the other guy (unprofessional thing to do), then later found my appointment but said he had to delete it and re-enter it. Not sure why, but perhaps so he would not have to honor the quoted price?? I left, as he told me he would text me the quote to approve. When I received that quote, it was over $100 more than originally quoted. I also noticed he charged me twice for an air filter, both different prices (really??). I obviously did not approve this and immediately called. I asked about the double charge, so he took one off, but the price was still well above what I was originally quoted. I even presented a first time customer coupon upon arrival which was not applied. At this point, all trust is lost, and even if he would've finally honored the original quote, I would not have let them touch my car. When I arrived to pick up my car, he was helping another customer. He raced over to hand me my key, probably worried I might speak up in front of that customer. I'm not one to cause a scene, so I politely took my key and left. I don't know if Apex encourages this, or if this advisor is just a creep who thinks I'm some clueless woman (sorry David, I wasn't born yesterday and you sorely underestimated me), but I will never return again and will be sure to...
