Very Concerning Customer Service at Staples! Stay away from this place!
I am deeply concerned about the treatment I received at the Staples location at 200 S 23rd Ave, Bozeman, MT 59718. During my visit to print some sewing patterns, I encountered an employee who alleged to be "the manager" at the printing station and exhibited toxic and aggressive behavior that was far from customer-friendly. Their actions felt like bullying rather than service.
The employee refused to print my documents, citing copyright restrictions, and when I tried to explain that these restrictions pertain only to the sale of items made from the patterns, he became extremely angry. He repeatedly demanded that I leave the store, insisting he was both the manager and the owner. As both employees yelled for me to leave, they also positioned their bodies close to mine, almost in my face, which left me feeling cornered and forced to walk backward to avoid confrontation. I ultimately felt threatened enough to call the police.
Another employee joined him, and rather than attempting to mediate the situation, she also began yelling. This experience was distressing, especially in front of other customers who were equally shocked by the confrontation.
This type of behavior should not be encouraged, and I strongly urge anyone needing to buy or print to go somewhere else. Staples employees may feel untouchable, but what they fail to realize is that this kind of treatment spreads quickly, and customers should not advocate for it by continuing to give them business.
If you need to make large prints, I highly recommend going to FedEx instead. They have self-serve large printing stations with no wait, and the staff there are respectful, friendly, and kind.

After multiple phone calls back and forth with a clerk who wasn't even working on my print job, I expressed my concern that it didn't seem like he understood my order and could I talk directly to the staff in the print center. He called me back 1/2 hour later to say the print job was complete, it had been done wrong, but they would only charge me for what I meant to get, not what they made. I arrived to find they did not complete the job. I was told I would not be charged for the error, again, and could I come back in a few hours when the job was complete. I came back again, was told the job was nearly complete, and browsed the store for 1/2 hour waiting. When he went to ring me up, he wanted to charge full price for the botched print job. I asked to speak to a manager, at which time, Jordan, in the most indignant, pompous, entitled, bratty, arrogant manner announced "I AM the manager". He proceeded to tell me how I had screwed up the order, he referenced the email I had sent and disregarded the 5 phone calls clarifying the order, he needed to cover his print and cut costs, and I would be paying the price he stated. I said I wouldn't pay it, and he said fine, I'll put them in the recycling. So now he has no money in his til, not even a reduced charge, a furious customer instead of a satisfied customer, and product in the landfill instead of the customer's hands. Read moreThe customer service at this location of Staples has been stellar for me (on multiple visits) the past month! Erin (sp?) and Taylor are awesome! I have had a rewards account for 15 years and never once has anyone taken the time to help me problem solve when I shared that I never have seen any benefits from it. Erin walked through the app and showed me where to find my coupons and such. Another huge change is that multiple folks asked me if I needed help when wandering the aisles! That is a first over the years. Something positive has changed over there! Not many big box stores are known for great customer service and that motivates me to share that this one is different!
