Escape 406 — Attraction in Bozeman

We were visiting out kids at Montana State and decided to try the local escape room experience. We've been to a couple rooms local to Post Falls, Idaho, but had not been to any elsewhere. Escape 406 had 3 intriguing options and we went with Bleakwood Manor. It was an escape room with a murder mystery to solve. We had a great time getting through the puzzles which were just about the right level of difficulty and all but solved the murder. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Compared to some rooms, the size was on the smaller end, so don't plan on a group bigger than 5 or 6 max. There was nothing too scary or shocking, so younger players would be fine.

We had so much fun!! My husband and I did the Dracula room last night, and made it all the way to the last puzzle before the time ran out. The room was gorgeous and very immersive. I was particularly impressed by the rigging on some of the puzzles; it's easy to think "oh it would be cool if you touched this thing here and this other thing opened" but actually building devices to do that is much more difficult. In that sense, having previous experience with lesser escape rooms slowed us down a tiny bit because we underestimated what was possible.

I really appreciate that they don't put you in a room with strangers! It makes for a better date night of course, but it's also less awkward trying to problem solve with people...

I have to say, when I first went to Escape 406, I wasn't sure what to feel. I went to an escape space station deal they did a few months back, and we were not incredibly impressed. To be honest, it was a puzzle that we found to not give quite enough guidance, in an unfun way. However, my opinion has entirely changed, I absolutely loved the escape jungle temple one they did, absolutely legendary. When we needed a bit of a push in the right direction, they happily provided it and it was an excellent experience to feel straight out of Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider.
