Bat City Comic Professionals — Local services in Bradenton

Thank the good Lord we found this place while in Florida! One of my favorite things to do while traveling is to find a great 'Mom-n-Pop' comic shop. This was one of those gems that you could spend all day in!

We were in the Fort Myer area all week and hadn't found a single place I'd consider an -ACTUAL- comic shop. I had come to think that those were just the style of southern Florida "comic shops" and that perhaps I'm super spoiled with mine in New Hampshire, and the amazing ones all over New England.

BAT CITY SAVED THE DAY!!! This place is gorgeous. The care they put into labeling, boxing, organizing, and keeping everything clean and safe is awe inspiring. The selection is insane as well. New, recent, old, and older comics galore. $1, $2 comic boxes in bulk. Everything back issue is priced to move. The graphic novel selection was massive. Best of all the 'kid corner' was amazing. Our daughter would have been there with me all weekend if we didn't have to fly home.

The owners were just as amazing. Personable, engaging, kind, enjoyable. Just a great visit and exactly what makes actual comic shops the place to go.

Even better is the non-profit aspect. I teach in special education and absolutely love that they are set up to help kids in multiple ways like learning, reading, and having a safe place to be.

It's a blessing this shop came to Bradenton and now call this town home. They have an amazing selection of comic books, and that is just the tip of the iceberg for how great this store is. They also hold many events for the community, have a classroom for teaching kids to read, and offer comic pressing and cleaning services. The staff here is absolutely amazing, Matt, Shannon, and Josh are the nicest people you could ever meet. They also have comics, toys, action figures, funkos, statues and everything else that comic collectors love to get. Bradenton has never had a store like this one, I've seen stores like them but far away, now we have the best shop we could ask for right on Manatee Avenue. 5 out of 5 stars just doesn't say enough about how good this shop is. They are without a doubt the best comic shop this side of the skyway...

I had the pleasure of going to see Shannon and Matt at Bat City Comic Professionals while in Tampa visiting family. I love these guys. They were so welcoming and had so much advice to and knowledge to give me. I met with Shannon for the first time at NYCC 2023. She held a roundtable on how to get more involved in your community. I got to witness that in person. They truly are truly loved by there community and I hope to do the same at Baby Gorilla Comics when I return. They and I truly have comic shops as a labor of love. Trust me when I say it not for the money. If your ever in the Sarasota Florida area please stop by. I promise you will love them and there shop. You will also walk out smiling from ear to ear.
