Richey's Chocolates — Local services in Bradenton

This is a candy store where it's supposed to be a fun environment.

The candy, idea, and appearance are all good. But the employees are treacherous. It's more like a zombie movie than a candy store.

I went there on July 31st, 2025. It was the third time I've been there since I moved here in 2019. It was the last day of the month, and I figured I'd eat whatever I wanted on this date. So, I go in there. I had an empty Pepsi cup from driving (work) all day. I was going to throw out the cup in the garbage can, but there was no garbage can inside or outside of the store.

I walk in and the two girls behind the counter are talking and laughing. I smile, and ask them if they could throw out this cup. Again, there were NO garbage cans. When I asked them I might as well might have been begging for money. Immediately their demeanor changed, and I actually wanted to leave. But I stayed, and got typical Bradenton customer service.

Every time I've been there (Richey's-three separate), I've received the same garbage service. So, I looked up their reviews, and several people have had the same experiences that I have had. I was there a few years ago, and the woman behind the counter acted like I was going to rob the chocolate store.

Is the owner part of the problem, or part of the solution?

I never swore/used profanity at all. Not even close. I didn't intentionally bring garbage. Why do you not have a garbage can available for customers. Starbucks has garbage cans inside and outside. You talk about an empty cup like it's a truckload of garbage. Part of the problem or part of the solution, now I know.''

We call it "FCS." Florida customer service. Richey's is a great concept. HORRIBLE...

I have passed this place over and over and have wanted to stop in SO many times... I finally scheduled a day to bring my kids and my dad who was visiting from out of town. We were so excited to visit the "chocolate store." TOTAL LETDOWN. When we went in, we were the only customers. A lady was standing behind the counter and asked if she could get us something. I explained it was our first time there and we were just going to browse a bit first. She then proceeded to hover over my family and dish out dirty looks as my 2 children (who despite being loud from excitement, were very well behaved) pointed out all the things they thought they would enjoy. About every minute the lady would ask, "Is there something I can get for you? What can I get for you? What can I ring up?" It was very pushy and off-putting. I did purchase things there, but looking back I wish I would've told her, "Ya know what? We can go somewhere else that feels a little more welcoming." Even my dad commented afterward how rude she was. Will NOT be going...

There was such a beautiful assortment of chocolates and I was excited to buy an assortment for a friends going away gift, but when I was told they all had to be put in a cellophane bag I was confused!! I clearly stated I wanted to purchase about 15 or so at an avg of 2.00 each and would like them in a box. The woman told me No. She told me the box costs 10x more than the cellephane! I asked to purchase a box and was refused. I was told if I wanted a box i had to buy the ones already made! I told her I didnt want those chocolates....i wanted the more expensive ones but still she refused me a box and lost...
