This is truly one of the more underrated farmers' markets. Just to be clear, this is one of the highest ratings I have given to any farmers’ market, and that should def say something.
I am not a guy who is easily impressed. It takes a lot to sway me. And maybe this is not the perfect farmers’ market. Probably there is no such thing.
Most times I don't buy anything at the market. Occasionally I'll buy the usual odd stuff: snacks, honey, produce, (too sugary) bread, maple syrup, whatever.
More then what's on sale, I like the open location, and in general I get along w/ the vendors. It's not all butterflies and rainbows, but it's close enough.
Pluses: Nice location, next to Brambleton Park and walkable distance to HT for grocery shopping. Decent size market, not too many or too less vendors.
Minuses: Gets way too sunny in the spring and summertime. Almost no real shade. Not a whole lotta great variety on things for sale here. I have some not so good memories of this place, that I wish I could wash down with some cold beer or such. Specifically, I blew a once-in-a-life shot around Fall last year, and I deeply regret it every day.
All in all, I would recommend stopping by on the weekend sometime. The passerby specifically are by and large nothing great nor exciting, and neither are the wares on sale, but it's a good atmosphere and location and it might be worth it for a stroll if...
Read moreSupporting your local vendors/regional farmers is the best way to stay connected to the best source to support a healthy life style. The variety of products available range from Coffee/tea, fruits & vegetables, kettle corn, baked goods such as breads/muffins and pastries. Unless I'm out of town, I typically visit each weekend to stock up for the following week. Seriously, there is nothing better than getting a bunch of sweet potatos, turnips, beets, brussel sprouts, etc. And baking them in olive oil and spices on the weekend and having it to munch on...
Read moreThis is the tiniest market I’ve every been to. No offense to the vendors. Vendors looked nice and tasty. But wow. Compared to the others…. I walked through this one in 5 minutes. If you’re going to the library or Harris Teeter check it out. There was not much in the way of produce and the 2 or so produce stalls had the same limited options. The options did look fresh. But don’t make a separate trip just for it. Fortunately I live 5 minutes away and had...
