Fisherman's Access — Local services in Brea

“If Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, Fisherman’s Access in Brea is the happiest place for anyone who owns a tackle box. I walked in planning to ‘just browse’ and walked out with enough gear to single-handedly supply a small navy.

It reminds me of properly and well sized version of Bass Pro Shops, only better. And, you can actually get someone to help you that knows what he is talking about and does not look like he works at starbucks.

The Staff makes Roland Martin look like an amateur. They’ll not only tell you which lure works, but also which local lake that bass is hiding in, AND probably the fish’s astrological sign, as well as any emotional problems the fish might be dealing with. They somehow make you feel like you’re both a rookie and a pro at the same time — rookie because you realize how much you don’t know, pro because they hype you up like you’re about to star in your own fishing documentary about fur bearing trout.

Prices are fair, the selection is wild, and if you can’t find it here, it probably doesn’t exist outside of Neptune’s garage. Honestly, I’d give them 6 stars if Google would let me. Fisherman’s Access: where wallets and...

Mixed emotions...... 😞 Today I walked in the store like always...... Happy to see all this cool fishing stuff I can't afford and a excited for the dump bins! Freaking clearance bins full of discounted products! SCORE!!! Then the bad part. Fishermans Access now has anti-theft devices all over the store because of shoplifting. What little shred of faith I had in humanity just flew out the window. I didn't buy anything today because money is tight so I just looked around with a friend who had purchased a few things. Definitely put a damper on our time there. Everybody's just trying to make a living and survive this chaotic world and when I see that..... Scum of the earth taking advantage..... knowingly shoplifting..... kinda feel some barbaric punishment is acceptable… For a moment, only a moment. HEY SCUM! What if someone was slowly taking from YOU? Waiting until you turn your back is turned and sneaking YOUR property YOU YOURSELF worked hard for? Stealing from YOU or YOUR family? I seriously cannot say enough good things about this place. Jake the manager is seriously the nicest guy ever and more than happy to talk to you even if it’s just over unsexy surf fishing tackle. I live in Carlsbad and we have great tackle shops around but the over an hour drive is worth it to come here just because the experience is so great. I came back a second time for another reel they were getting in stock and the orders hadn’t arrived. Jake was happy to ship it to my house when it did come, spooled and everything. Awesome service.
