J Sushi Brea — Restaurant in Brea

Discovered J Sushi in Brea one night for some take-out during this pandemic and have been a faithful, returning customer ever since. The whole family agrees that their food is delicious and fresh. My personal favorite is the Paradise Roll. It is a refreshing and tasty roll wrapped in cucumber instead of rice. It is delicious!

In addition to their fresh, delicious sushi, they follow the CDC and local guidelines for places to eat and that reassures me that they also follow other healthy guidelines in their food preparation areas as well.

Currently, there is no dine-in or outside dining available...but that is totally okay! I still order to go foods and tip to help keep this place going.

They wear masks, require customers to do the same and practice safe social distancing. Only one customer allowed inside at a time. I order off their website which is super easy and pay online. They always offer help out to my car since my orders are large usually for the whole family. I love their food, their service, and their business practices.

I moved to this area 5 months ago. Other than work, we just go over local restaurants one by one. Today was our first time here and should be the last time. It was mainly the dinning experience. We had a waitress did not know how to wait, and in a hot South Cal afternoon, didn't feel like the AC was on. The food is mediocre, utensils is old and cheap, the portion is small and the pictures on the menu gave very little idea what the entries are. The Teriyaki beef made me want to go back to Yoshinoya. The baked Dynamite rolls fell apart the second the plate landed on the table.

The reason for given the second star is: all the orders came with the relative right taste, not great, not bad. So the Cali roll is a Cali roll, the Dynamite sushi taste like one, and salad taste like Japanese restaurant salad. I looked at the picture of the food before I went, I am...

So covid-era review. Only one person allowed in the restaurant to order at a time. We came for lunch and made our orders. My coworker was told that his would take a little longer, like 20 minutes to be ready. I ordered mixed tempura, a cheesy golden dragon and a cali roll. I think with tip it was about 20 bucks. My order came out at least 10 minutes. We had to wait 10 more minutes for my coworker's order. So its wise to order ahead. They get very busy for lunch. My cheesy golden dragon was amazing!
