We came here around 4:30pm today to buy fishing licenses and supplies. The cashier (Caucasian Man in his 60's) was extremely rude and refused to help us because we had out of state drivers licenses. He said "I don't deal with this" to another cashier (younger man in his late teens) and handed our licenses to him, and then said we needed to give our social security numbers. As we weren't aware of such a policy (it's not standard policy in our state), we gently asked if it was necessary to give such information to a retail store. The older cashier gave us an unfriendly stare while the younger cashier struggled to quickly get out information processed to get us our fishing licenses. During the long wait, I decided to pick up a few drinks and snacks and placed it on the cashier counter and I said, "I can pay for this now." The older cashier responded snarkily "oh YOU can pay for it now? Aren't you going to give your social security number and drivers license?".
I am a strong supporter of customer service and I understand when sometimes customers are difficult and unreasonably demanding. But what the hell is that attitude all about? That is NO way to treat a paying customer.
