Not real butchers. Perry’s, my go-to butcher forever, decided to Bon-ami the windows. So I’m looking for a new butcher. The egotist on 41st East of Peoria is out for personality reasons. I remembered finding nice Lamb at Harvard Meats when they were at 15th and Harvard so decided to give them a try. My first disappointment was that everything was was already cut and prepackaged, so I pretty much ruled them out. Today I pulled out a pork Tenderloin I purchased there and was shocked. First for the exorbitant price, but more so for the cut-lots of tendon and fat left on what should be a very lean piece of meat. I won’t be back. The owner’s defense below is laughable. Pork is graded U.S. No 1-4. “Prime” is a beef grade. So now we know how knowledgeable this guy is. I don’t shop at Walmart OR now Harvard meats. I’m still in the market for a REAL butcher who cuts meat to order (and knows how meats are graded).

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! I have gotten huge beef liver that was fresh from Harvard Meats when they were located at 15th and Harvard in Tulsa. This time I was highly disappointed. It was almost smaller than what you can get frozen from Walmart and they are pretty small. The cost was over priced for what I purchased. It wasn't fresh and it was frozen in individual wrapping inside of a package I guess that was just meant for labeling. I had originally went in there to get a list of their package deals like they use to have. They no longer have a paper print out if you want a list it is online at their website. Deliver was thinner than what you get from Walmart. I feel that they should lessen the packaging increase the amount for the amount that they charged me I paid $15 and something for something that a child could eat all of.

I had hoped the other 1 star reviews were wrong, but I visited today and sadly they were right. I did not stay for more than 3 minutes - and that was because I wanted to find something to like about it. I could smell the amount of old, spoiled, and or freezer-burnt items that were there. The staff did greet me and offered to assist me, which was nice, but I don't recall seeing one person smiling. The cheese and milk options were nearly non-existent, the freezer had an open box of bone and meats still in the blue plastic bag it came in - I could see the ice crystals forming on them. Lastely were the veggie options - the bell peppers were so old they were wrinkling and shriveled, and one of the potatoes was so old it had a green ting to its skin from the mold growing - I was so shocked I cannot even remember what the rest of them looked like. I took a very brief look at the meat counter as I was turning around to leave and saw a large amount of ground beef packed into the display case, so much so that that the spot that was pressed against the glass had turned brown. I really hope this store is restored, it has great potential with all the exotics it offers, but it seems maybe the passion...

Updated: is second paragraph. I posted after the owners response.

They leave the bone in each ribeye adding several dollars per steak that ends up in the trash. I don’t particularly care about the bone flavor argument When three steaks cost $125. Ribeye already taste great and I have yet to find any steak house that serves bone in ribeye. I shouldn’t have to specify boneless ribeye. Never had this happen at any other butcher. Wanted to support a near by butcher. Not made of money it was a special occasion tho the steak quality was ok at best. But at $26 per pound and the bone weight I weighed is 1.44 lbs. I spent $37 on waste.

The owner’s response makes it clear that they are just trying to charge the customer for waste and make a profit on something they should have thrown out. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SPECIFY THAT YOU DONT WANT TO BE SOLD WASTE. After reading the owner’s response to many other negative reviews it seems they care more about being right than making things right. Reducing my rating from three...

Read the reviews. Best beef jerkey around. Well....not at 15th and Harvard. Only the BA location. Very, very little selection at this location. Purchased a lb of bacon for 6.99. NO flavor at all and shrunk up paper thin after cooking. I'll keep getting the thick sliced at Reasor's. I was not impressed. Went to BA today. They didn't have the beef jerkey either. I asked the guy if I had to order it. And he said, "no, we're out of spices right now". I'll keep ordering from Ullrich Meats in Pella, Iowa. I don't mind the shipping fee. Their's is the best nationwide. I won't go back to Harvard Meats....I've seen the commercials and thought I'd check it out though. I went to BA location. 1 lb lean hamburger. It's freezer burnt. It did look fresh and red when I purchased it. Like the bacon I purchased few wks back. It is old meat. It smells old when you cook it. I'm...
