I’m genuinely disappointed by the experience I had with this business. I called with a straightforward question, hoping for a helpful conversation, but was instead met with hostility. The person on the phone interrupted me repeatedly, spoke in an unprofessional and dismissive tone, and finally said, “Why don’t you just do it yourself if it’s easy,” before abruptly hanging up. I was shocked. No customer—potential or current—deserves to be treated this way.

What’s even more concerning is the owner’s response to my initial review. Rather than acknowledging the inappropriate behavior or taking any responsibility, they shifted the focus entirely to a policy about not negotiating prices over the phone—something that was never the issue. This kind of deflection only reinforces the lack of professionalism I experienced. It’s not about pricing—it’s about respectful, basic human interaction, which was completely lacking.

Good businesses listen, take feedback seriously, and strive to improve. Sadly, that was not the case here. I’m sharing this not out of anger, but to help others make an informed decision. Finally, a great LBS! We only had one shop in town until these guys opened up, and it was like a breath of fresh air. This shop reminds me of the places we had back in Austin, TX. The guys working there ride single speeds and fixed gear as well, so if that's your thing, they know what you are talking about. I just picked up a new chainring from them for just a shade over internet price, but I'm happy to drive business their way. The mechanics are friendly, and the bikes are not too crazy expensive. From now on, I'll be sending people over to Bluestem for bike needs, and telling them to stay away from the "other" shop. All in all, friendly staff, good prices, and no elite attitude. Daughter’s bike was damaged in a bike on bike accident on campus this week. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and they were able to quickly diagnose what all needed to be fixed. And they were able to squeeze in the repair as we were just traveling thru town to help our daughter after her accident. They got the repairs done quickly and made sure the whole bike was looked over and safe. And when we picked up the bike a little later they even gave us an SDSU discount.
