Fear Asylum Haunted House — Attraction in Brookings Township

Fear Asylum this year is AMAZING as always!! The attention to detail is what sells the whole experience. The sets are meticulously built and the animatronics everywhere work so well to make it even more intense. Most importantly, the characters are the absolute best! The outfits & makeup are on point, and they perform so well it makes the whole thing worth coming to see! They never break character, and when they aren't in the Asylum, they are wandering the grounds, interacting with the people waiting to get inside! It helps make even waiting in line more enjoyable! My wife and I always go through at least twice so we can see everything & appreciate all the hard work that goes into Fear Asylum! There is also a concession stand to get hot cocoa, hot apple cider & etc to keep you warm while you wait! The whole crew are so great & so friendly! My husband and I have gone to Fear Asylum for the past two years, and we were not allowed to go this year. We loved going to Fear Asylum, and it became one of our favorite haunted houses. Until this year, 2020. My husband, my brother, and I were all dressed up, and drove an hour from Sioux Falls to Brookings, just to go to Fear Asylum on Halloween night. When we tried to pay, no one was there, so we waited, and finally, someone came out, only to tell us that they were closed. They closed an hour early on Halloween night, and didn’t let us in. We have had this planned for months, planned our schedules around it, specifically planned on coming at this time on Halloween night, and they didn’t let us go through, because they decided to close early. Don’t close early on Halloween night, especially when you have a discount going for people in costumes. I can’t believe we wasted two hours (there and back) worth of gas. Fear Asylum is not like a normal haunt, it's a journey through a nightmare. From the moment you turn the corner & leave the safety of light, it begins. The atmosphere immediately sets the mood, & the amazing characters bring the attraction to life.
