First time visiting... I ordered chicken pad Thai, and chicken dumplings (potstickers.) I should have known I was in for a bad experience when my dumplings arrived at the table, DEEP FRIED. Any chef/cook, or knowledgeable restaraunt owner would know this is not how dumplings are served. The Pad Thai as depicted in the photo, was an overcooked mess. It arrived at the table congealed together. The chicken was dried and rubbery, an obvious victim of being frozen. The flavor wasn't horrible, but too salty to be "good." The real kicker came when the check arrived and we noticed we got charged for Naan. See, we didn't order the naan as an appetizer. The waitress asked us if we had been here before to which we answered no. She explained how the menu worked related to "hotness" of the meals. After taking our entree order she then asked, what type of Naan we wanted after each order. The implication being it was included with the entree. But no, it showed up as an extra charge. Had we been aware it was not included, we most likely would not have ordered it. I'm not sure how this establishment has retained a 4.4 avg because the food definitely is not worthy of that rating. Pad Thai is a simple dish to create, and it's quick and easy from scratch. It should never look or taste the way mine did and authentic pot stickers are generally prepared partially boiled, then finished in a pan by being browned on the bottom. I gave two stars because the atmosphere was pleasant and the service friendly.

I always had a doubt about the taste of the food. I tested this restaurant before it was moved to the new place and the foods were horrible at that time. This time, after almost 5 years I wanted to try the food again, and guess what, it was an absolute disappointment. The buffet had only 5-6 foods and none of there were tasty. When you say it is an Indian item, you should make sure it is at least close to its original taste. If an Indian tastes this food they would know how good it is. The nans were just a thick roti, the shahi chicken was tasteless. The Pakora/Pakoda is full of batter, there were not enough stuffing/onions and or spinach inside the Pakoda. I had experienced Indian foods at minimum 30 different restaurants, and this was nowhere near my previous worst. I would recommend the chef to taste some Indian restaurants at other cities. The place, environment and service were really great, which has almost no value to me.

This place is an icon of Brookings cuisine for people with a seasoned palate. Unfortunately there's only one of its kind in Brookings. They have a monopoly on Indian and Asian cuisine (excluding the two specifically-Chinese places in town). They let you choose the spice level on a scale of 1-5. Guide for spice: I personally can handle a lot of spice, but I feel that anything past 3 starts to take away from the flavor. My brother once foolishly ordered a 6 and had an upset stomach (his fault). Just keep in mind that this restaurant doesn't use a "white spice level." A 4/5 spice level for an Indian would kill a white mom in South Dakota. I've loved every dish I've ordered from here. You're assured to have a good time. The paneer pakora wasn’t my favorite. It seemed not fresh I guess :/ but maybe I got unlucky or just don’t like it idk

I have eaten Indian food all my life in 3 different countries and am not particularly fussy. I have given this place multiple chances and tried multiple different things. The food here is terrible, I have to be truthful. Incredibly salty, not a single one of the dishes tasted anything like they should, samosas were mushy, fish was somehow crunchy, meat overdone and not fresh. Last time I tried it, I got a red Thai curry. I went to the bathroom after suddenly feeling ill. I typically have a stomach of iron. I had to go out to my car where I violently threw up. One of the worst experiences of my life. I rarely get sick. Perhaps it was something else or I had a stomach bug? Possibly, but after I threw up and got it out of my system, I was fine after about an hour. I wouldn't recommend the food at all. Service and atmosphere is always nice.

**In response to the business, we both debated what the "protein" was at the time and the only conclusion was that the server had brought us fish on accident. My partner had been talking to the server in both English and Spanish (I believe he was from Columbia but I don't recall exactly) and although our server was fluent, we assumed he'd made a mistake on our order with my partner's broken Spanish. Since I got so sick, went to your bathroom and then promptly left without finishing, I didn't have time to debate said protein further, but it was an odd texture and kind of transparent. I was too busy to complain afterwards while sat in my car right outside your business, loudly throwing up into a used plastic bag while praying I wasn't going to...

I have worked at Flavor Fare for three years and I took great pride ensuring that dishes plates glasses pot and pans were above clean. I've worked there for 3 years. The new 3 years dishwasher doesn't even wipe the cookware. After 3 clean dishes. years and I was fired for ensuring adequate clean ware. There's only a college graduate that cooks the meals. I wanted clean plates and glasses for customers. Although Dan is the owner the guy who doesn't clean dishes is still work there. I would advise everyone not ea thereuntil the dishwasher is gone. Watching the new dishwasher I for the next two or three But the owner just hired a new dishwasher who doesn't wipe any of the aforementioned items. I worked with him and despite me telling him to clean items when he thought I wasn't watching him he didn't clean anything Finely because Dan the owner didn't do anything about it I walked out the job. I've worked there 3 years. I personally would not eat there for the months the owner fixes...
