Brookline Town Hall — Local services in Brookline

On March 2, 2009 we got married there during a blizzard. The Patrick Ward, the Town Clerk walked in to the office and opened it just for us. We flew in specifically to get married on a Monday and had to leave the next day so this was our only shot to get married. At the time, gay marriage was not legal in many places, including our home state. We called Patrick weeks before to set an appointment. When the snow wouldn't let up, we were concerned but we went to City Hall anyway. A sign on the door said "City Hall is closed. For assistance, knock loud!" We banged on the door and Patrick came over, opened the door and said "You're the guys!". We had to get a waiver from the court across the street, which was easy. Then we went back to City Hall.
