I booked the Luxury suite for our planned overnight stay in Boston 3 weeks prior to our arrival and we were very excited for our stay. The room was absolutely gorgeous! Unfortunately, we were only in it for 2 hours. Upon arrival, I was told by Rose (the acting supervisor) that the hotel restaurant 'The Petal' dining room was open until 10pm and room service provided until 11pm. We had looked over the menu & had decided what we were going to order but had to run out quickly beforehand. On Our way out At around 8:45pm, we saw three or four staff members sitting in The common area near the bar talking. The hotel was seemingly empty, which I thought Was a bit odd. Rose was at the front desk and I stopped to confirm with her that room service would be provided until 11 PM, she said that it would. I even told her that I couldn’t wait to get back to order the Chicken Tabaka. At 10pm, I called to order room service & my order was taken. Five minutes later, Rose called my room and told me that the kitchen staff had unexpedly left an hour early and was closed. She claimed that she was not told that anyone had left or why. I was hungry and very disappointed. It was now 10 PM and we had not eaten all day. I'm not from the area and have no idea of anywhere to eat close by or whom would even be serving this late. Rose told me that there were plenty of places on Beacon St that we could go out to...as I sat in my robe preparing for a bubble bath. We had just gotten back from running errands, had we known this could happen we would have picked up food and this would have all been avoided. I was uprepared and did not expect this to happen. She said she both understood and agreed. I wanted to speak with the manager but she told me Eva would not be there for the remainder of the weekend. Rose said she was acting supervisor and would try to help resolve the issue. Rose apologized for the unprofessionalism of the staff and offered a $56 credit for breakfast the restaurant the next day. I had already added breakfast on our booking & was already paid for it when we checked in. She then offered the $56 credit for the bar. I WANTED FOOD, NOT ALCOHOL!! At this point, I'm starving and getting very annoyed. She told me that she'd put the credit toward DoorDash. I don't use DoorDash at home, therefore, didn't have their App. I was becoming aggrivated trying to download and use it and still had no idea what was good to eat in the area at 10:30pm. By this point, I no longer wanted to stay at the hotel and told Rose that we'd be leaving and I requested a refund at that time. Seeing as we had only checked in 2 hrs prior, Rose agreed to do so. As we were packing up, Rose called me and said that the gentleman from the bar was able to put something together for us to eat. I told her we were not interested and planned to stop at the 24hr McDonald's on our 1.5 hr drive home...in the snow. She sent him to our room anyway...with a cheese platter and what appeared to be chicken wings?! THEY TRIED TO FEED US WHAT WAS LEFT IN THE FRIDGE!! I refused the leftovers, finished packing and headed out the door. Upon leaving I told Rose that I was insulted by everything that had occurred and reiterated that I would contact the hotel manager on Monday and would be expecting a refund. She rudely told me that my car was out front. I grabbed the keys from the valet gentleman's hand and walked out the door in a huff. It was 29 degrees, snowing and my car was nowhere in sight. Instead, there was a Mercedes parked, I looked at the keys...THEY WERE NOT MY KEYS. I was given the keys to someone else's vehicle. I stormed back in asking where my car was and was met by more hostility and rudeness when Rose and the valet gentleman ran out the door, yelling that the Mercedes was my car. That's when they realized that they had made a mistake...but nothing could even be said, too much had gone wrong and the damage was done. They gave me the right car and we drove home at 11:30pm. At $500+ per night for your Luxury Suite, I expected more and I'm very...
Read moreI lived in the Boston area for over a decade, but twenty years ago, and it’s always hard for me to work out a hotel. I read about Iris Hotel online, and the care with which people reviewed it, as well as the consistent enthusiasm- especially for cleanliness, friendly staff, and great beds! - made me decide to stay here. I knew the location, which is a great spot, both for getting to multiple points in the Boston area (it’s right on the c line), but also because Coolidge Corners is a great neighborhood in its own right. I was happily confirmed in all my expectations! The hotel still feels new, and working out details, but the important things are all there, already: super friendly staff - Jusn and Annie at front desk were quick to greet me, then held my luggage for the day when I was checking out; adjusted my room temp.- couldn’t do enough. The rooms are spacious and spotless, w fantastic refrigerator, stove top, coffee maker and microwave. (Trader Joe’s just a block away, so you could easily eat in; but their restaurant is excellent.) Lots of closet and drawer space; great shower- and fantastic beds with beautiful sheets and great cozy comforters. And the breakfast was scrumptious! A simple staple like oatmeal was best ive ever had; the rest of the Menu looked delicious, and having read the careful menu and met the chef - Lena - I’m convinced everything would be as good as my oatmeal. Marina, the hostess, was an angel who let me eat even as the restaurant’s breakfast hours were about to end.
These are all smart, committed and talented people, eager to offer a great place snd join the Boston Brookline community.
Tiny details that could use address- same as mentioned by another happy reviewer: bathroom door opened awkwardly making it hard to get around it to toilet; I couldn’t reach front desk on the room phone; room was ice cold when I came - but it did warm up later, and I appreciate not wasting heat when no one there.
I will definitely stay again on future...
Read moreThe Iris Hotel has everything you need to have the perfect stay in Boston. I attended my cousin’s Harvard Graduation and decided to stay at the Iris Hotel. It’s walking distance from cute cafes, banks, restaurants and a Trader Joe’s. It’s about a 15m drive from Harvard Square and other great restaurants and city sites.
Now to speak about the actual hotel… it’s STUNNING! It’s beautifully decorated impeccably clean. The staff is welcoming, kind, knowledgeable and very helpful! The rooms are immaculate! Lots of natural light with a gorgeous and spacious bathroom. The kitchenette area is equipped with a full fridge, freezer, microwave, new Nespresso machine with enough capsules to enjoy 2-3 complimentary coffees each day. The gym is on the lower floor, which is a great size with good privacy and top notch equipment. Their spa was cute and peaceful. They even provide you with the choice of having in-room facials!! 🙌
Dinner and drinks served in their Petal Restaurant and their atmospheric bar were exceptional. Vladimir the bartender even made delicious mocktails for my husband and me who are in our alcohol-free era!
Booking spa services, restaurant reservations, champagne, and room cleaning was made a breeze with their online portal!
Just WOW! I can’t speak more highly of this hotel and their staff. I had a fabulous stay and will rebook the next time I’m in the area. Quality-price… Iris Hotel can’t be beat!!
Thank you so much Iris...
