I was in yesterday and had the worst experience at any store in my life. The store in bp had 27 or 28 of the base boards we already had in my home. I needed two more. I could not find the item where the website said they should be 305 G. I found like 10 of the item on a cart at the end of 305 with other boards, after looking FOREVER. From my previous experience with stocking store shelves, it seemed like they were moving the items location. I started trying to find boards that were not scratched and dinged on this cart. (Cart was not labeled to not touch or roped off) I find one and continue looking, then an older male emp starts yelling at me about digging off the cart. I ask them to point me to where i should be grabbing from, show them the item on the website, and then they snap its a new item its not anywhere w/o looking around. I try to tell them i have been watching the item go up and down online for their location and others and say its not a "new " item, that i have already gotten this item here. (I know its only sold at menards and we have the item in our basement.) The emp continues to be rude and saying im in the wrong but since i already messed up the cart i can take the two boards. Then they snap again and ask what I'm doing, and I explained I was trying to find one more board that was not already damaged. They try to tell me none are damaged while they pull out boads I already looked that are damaged. Then they tell me it just dirty and try to use their spit to wipe off scratches... Then they remind me again i should not have been shopping off this cart... So i ask again to direct me where i should be shopping. And they say this item is not really for sale yet cause its new. . At that point I decided Im not spending money somewhere where the employees treat shoppers with such disrespect. I say to the emo I'll just call another store to see if they can sell me the item since he seems to want to do the opposite of that. At that point he gets really pissed and insists i take from the cart as I walk away. . . Worse experience ever. Not sure if this stems from im an alternative looking younger than him woman thing? But this whole experience was the opposite of customer service. I called the Maple Grove location in the parking lot, and they confirmed they had the item and the aisle its at. MG had the item where it was supposed to be according to the website and it was an in and out in like 5 minutes situation like I expected to be at the BP location. Since I purchased a home within a mile of the BP location in march 2023, I have almost exclusively shopped at the BP location...
Read moreafter visiting this store the previous Saturday, looking for a plumbing valve, asked the first menards employee for help. Told me he worked in the electrical department but would get someone to help me. After about 5 minutes I asked another one for help. told me about the same thing. after several more minute, asked another employee for help. she said the same as the others. This time I demanded to know how long this might take. Got no answer. Decided this wasn't working. Upon leaving I vented my frustration to an employee.
I then went to Home Depot.
On Monday I returned to Menads for a couple Items that I was confident I could find on my own. Purchased plumbers putty paste and Teflon tape for less than $3. Returning to my plumbing job and opening the plumbing seal tube, the contents was liquid and useless for sealing.
Returned to Menards to return these defective items. Went to the service desk to inform them of this defective product. When informing the service desk employee of my unhappiness over having to spend my time and gas to return these less than $3 items, RatTer than help me, he decided to tell me I was the person who made a ruckus the other day. At this point I was amazed he would bring this up since it had nothing to do with the problem of selling me worthless goods. I then asked to speak to the manager. He got the manager, Matt, And I started to tell him what the employee said to me. Rather than listen to my beef, he told me he heard my rant on Saturday. I was flabbergasted that Matt would focus on a dead issue from days previous and not the issue at hand. I then explained I simply wanted to return these defective items. He then told me I would have to go to the returns desk, Where he happened to be working. He then, rudely informed me I would have to go to the end of a long line and wait for the next available returns person. He then stepped behind the counter to help the next person rather than take care of my return first.(2 small items worth less than $3.Seemed unreasonable and retaliatory to me. I did not go to the back of the line and when Matt had finished with the person he was helping, he returned my Items. (He must have thought twice about making me wait through a whole line of customer returns) Matt was rude (as others have stated on here) and unprofessional (my opinion) Next day I called Menard corporate to report this. I was told all issues must be in writing. Incredibly shoddy treatment by the store employees an even the corporate...
Read moreI was there Saturday of mothers day weekend and I'm amazed at the rudeness of check out employees. I live in Golden Valley so i usually shop at the Menards off 394. W just happen to be driving through BP to go to the theater.
We had a cart with a couple medium sized plants on them (weight of no more than 5 pounds each) that I rolled up to the checkout. The sign that's located there says that the cashier will unload them...etc. So I left them. I did take the initiative and put a number of things on the counter before hand. There was no greeting by (Shawnquella, no, I'm not making that name up) who was obviously having a bad day. After ringing up a couple items, she demanded that I unload the cart for her. I asked why, assuming that's what she was supposed to do. She responded with ( so I can see them). Her general attitude completely went down from there. She became very rude even after having removed them from the cart. She was mad that I didn't place them on the counter I'm guessing.
After I removed all the plants, I was talking to my wife and she snapped out at me asking (what did you just say to me?). I was like, nothing, I'm talking to my wife. So, to aid in this transaction and get us out faster and without any more attitude from "Shawnquella" I started to put the plants on the counter for her. I thought I was doing her a favor but her rudeness just continued from there. Once scanning our items, she basically started throwing our stuff down on the counter as she eyeballed us while loading the items in the cart. Even after we paid and left her aisle, her rudeness continued. We were waiting just outside where she was located chatting waiting for our kids to go to the bathroom and she continued to eyeball us the whole time.
I was pretty amazed at the nerve of the employee considering I was helping her do her job. I would think that to become an employee of Menards, it would be within your job description to be able to lift 15-25 pounds steadily. At least this was a rule when I was with Home Depot. I am not the one to do "reviews" but I had to say something about this incident as it's attitudes like this, are the reason why these jobs are getting $15 an hour. When all you have to do is stand there and ring stuff up and be nice for like 2 minutes and you can't do that, time to find a new job. To the Menards of BP management, please talk with your employee SHAWNQUELLA who was working the register 5-13-17. To anyone else, don't go into...
