My wife and I shop at the Broussard Home Depot pretty often since it's very close to our home. I normally dont leave reviews but one of their employees cost me several thousand of dollars over my projected expense. We just finished building our home so I wanted to finally run power to my shop. We'll we finally had 2 days of dry weather so I decided to try to knock it out. First off I rented a trencher from them, I asked them to check it before leaving because I had bad experiences in the past. As soon as I got home I reversed the trencher off the trailor, then I couldn't get it go forward. Contacted the number on the machine and the dummy on the phone said I could push it around and still trench in reverse, anyways finally a tech came fix it. I was still able to bring it back before my 4 hours was done but they didn't even offer me a discount since I did have to fight with it, and I also had to wait for the tech. Now to the serious expense, I went in there to get 2" conduit and 3 or 4 gauge wire. I was only planning on putting a 60 amp breaker so 4 gauge would have been fine. Well some young guy was helping me before supposedly a more experienced employee came up. I told him what I was looking for, after several minutes of going back and forth he said he didn't have 4 gauge but he had 3 gauge. I said I'll take that, I asked him the price and he said roughly $800 for the entire roll, i needed 375', so I said okay. We'll a hour and half to two hours later I finally get my wire. I had one of my 7 kids with me so being 3 years old she was getting very impatient, so while I was checking out I was trying to tend to her, my wife is calling me to let me know I'm late to pick up my daughter from work. With all that going on I really didn't pay attention to the final cost. Well, the cost came out to roughly $2500 for 375' of wire and 12 pieces of 2" conduit. After picking my daughter up I called Home Depot and I spoke to an employee and I told them they must have charged me for the wrong wire because my receipt says 1/0 wire and I asked for 3 gauge. I told him I was trying to beat the rain so he said that's fine run your stuff and bring your receipt tomorrow so they could adjust it. We'll I worked until midnight that Sunday to get everything ran underground, that was the hardest 3 gauge I have ever ran. Well it rained for the next week so I didn't have time to tie everything in but once it dried up again I started working on that, while installing it in my shop electrical panel I kept telling my wife something is off with this wire it was way to tough. Once I finished my shop I went to my homes sub panel and that's when I realized the mistake, the wire was way to big to get it in a 100 amp breaker. I looked up a wiring chart and I measured the OD of the wire and thags when I realized he sold me 3/0 wire. I called home depot right away and spoke to a manager. He told me to remove the wire and return it, he would refund me and give me the correct wire. After a day of contemplating I decided to call a electrician to see what's my best option because removing was way to much work and I could have possibly did more damage. So on top of the super expensive unnecessary wire I had to hire an electrician to come fix this. A project that was supposed to cost me a little over a $1000 cost me over $3000. I know I probably should have verified the size of tbe wire but it never dawned on me until everything was ran underground. I also found out they overcharged me for the conduit as well, the way we found out was when I went to return one of the pieces I had left the lady at the register told. It is truly sad that I wasted all that money on unnecessary wire and pipe especially when things are super expensive. As I stated above we have a large family so that money could have been spent on my kids but instead it was wasted on incompetence and ignorance, he should have listened to what I was asking for, then verify that is what I wanted. 4 people helped him that day and nit a single person...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Home Depot in Broussard LA this afternoon to buy storage bins and a shelving unit. They had a really nice selection of bins but no lids! We found three different colored lids to fit the bins we chose. We need 7. They did have one shelving unit that we wanted but no casters. There weren’t any on the aisle with the shelves like they’re supposed to be so we looked about 10 aisles away and found a good selection of bolt on caster wheels but barely any to fit shelving unit legs with the single screw. So we drove to the Lafayette store on Ambassador Caffery. That store has about 1/3 the amount of bins in stock that the Broussard store has but still NO LIDS! What is going on? Why stock bins but not have any lids? They didn’t have a good selection of shelves at all at the Lafayette store and of the tall 4 & 5 shelf chrome units, well they didn’t have any of the one I wanted and NO shelving units on display at all (chrome steel garage shelving on wheels). We did find four (only four) casters but they’re $25 Each! I needed the 4-pack for $29/set. So I ended up ordering 3 more bins With lids and a set of casters online. It states they will be delivered tomorrow. We shall see. If they go to stock on hand to fill the order, I won’t get it tomorrow that’s for sure. We were both shocked at the Miss-organisation and extreme low stock at Home Depot. Somebody needs to have a big managers meeting to discuss improvements in...

New review 3-25-2024 Nail and screw isle is still a mess.
On a different note went to look at washing machines and they only have one brand in stock to get same day but could order and it would arrive in a week or 2. When most people are looking for an appliance it’s not because it’s fun, but because the old one is broken and you need one now. Lady working in the appliance section told us if we didn’t order one right then and if we came back in the morning that it would be even longer to get one… she also told us none of the stores in Lafayette area have appliances you can get same day not Lowe’s,or Stines or anywhere. I felt this couldn’t be true and the next morning went to Stines and walked out in about 10 minutes with a new washer and a Stines warranty plan at a better deal. Shop Local not a chain store 9-1-25 Karen is still in the appliance area trying to hustle you into a Home Depot credit card. Screw isle...
