First off, the business is located on Price Street, NOT International Blvd. I had a difficult time finding it because of the outdated address. On October 28, 2014, I stopped by Borderline Customs for an oil change on my 2003 BMW 1150 GSA on my way home to California.
I left my bike in their care parked on their parking lot, while I went across the street for food. Upon my return to BC, I found my bike in the shop on the centerstand.
I noticed, the kickstand was deformed and did not remain in the "up" position. Big problem. How did this happen?
After talking to their mechanic, he tells me that when they put the bike on the kickstand, it had bend from the "weight of the bike".The kickstand is the steel OEM part, and perfectly capable of supporting a fully loaded bike. It had done so on my 60 day trip to Panama. It had functioned without problem. Even when parked in the lot of BC, it was in perfect working condition.
The problem was that I could not continue my ride home to California with a bend kickstand.
I brought this to the attention of the owner. He already was aware of the issue.
He never admitted to his staff having caused the damage to the kickstand. Actually, he put the blame on me.
Fact was, the bike was in the care of BC and on company property. I felt, they were ultimately responsible and should pay for the kickstand to be brought back to its workable condition. I just wanted them to perform an oil change, nothing more, nothing less.
The kickstand was brought to a welder who fixed it, which was good, because I was able to continue my ride.
Here is my complaint about the owner of BC (he never introduced himself or gave me a business card):
I fully understand, that issues can develop and problems do occur. But I feel that while my bike was in the care of and on property of Borderline Customs, the owner should have approached me, introduced himself, acknowledged and fix the problem and taken care of the cost. Just good business practice, which this owner seems to lag.
I would not return for business, even if I lived in the...
Read moreI took my 2022 ducati panigale v2 to have my rear breaks fixed since the rotor messed up and the caliper, I ordered new parts for them that they requested took it to them and after 3 months they finally gave it back but after taking it 2 stops, not even a mile, from my house the caliper completely fell off damaging my rim so i took it back to them and they âfixedâ it. I got back the following day and took its on a ride and the same thing happened as when i took it in the first time so those couple of months that was there were for nothing and all those brand new parts i ordered were thrown out because they couldnât fix it and they wanted to install a used caliper from another bike since they messed up the brand new one i ordered for them. I talked to the owner asking if it was possible for me to get a refund since the job was not done and he told me no and he tried blaming the after market parts of the bike which they did not install so makes no sense to blame the aftermarket parts on something they didnât do. So at the end i just picked up my bike from them since they could not complete the job i was charged for. I do not recommend coming here.
Edited: answer to owners response:
I obviously took the bike to the shop cause i messed it up which is why this âkidâ paid you to do a job and the job was not complete by your shop. I got those parts you needed the second you told me you needed them, i got them from Ducati in Houston. You blame me for the time it took when your shop couldn't even order the right parts for my bike? You told me to take it easy with the breaks and obviously i did i barely used them but the caliper still fell when it shouldn't have but you didn't say anything about that. The third time it happened it shouldnât have because thats why i took to get fixed and you gave it back because âthe job was doneâ which if it was it wouldn't have happened again. Youâre excuse was âwe're not a ducati dealershipâ and honestly the only negligence here is the way you...
Read moreDon't Trust Them! I should give zero stars if this site would allow me. The owner Beto has my custom bike since 2014. I just went to pick it up because he never finished with it and I'm out $5,500!!! The mechanics can fix bikes, the problem is the owner, he has health issues and doesn't finish the jobs in a timely manner. This due to either him not having staff to finish the repairs or because he is a bad manager in his finances. Idk and I don't care, I want my bike. He pulled out another bill, now for storage fees of $2,750 stating the bike has been ready and I have not picked it up. Look at the 2 pics he never got back to me to check the bike in one of those visits I drove down to the valley and on the other one he doesn't reply to my attempt to pick up my bike, as is, at this point I just want my bike. Beware, he is not to be trusted with your bike. I just called police to attempt to get it and he didn't want to give it to me because he pulled out another bill. I dont even live here anymore and it's expensive to come down every time for nothing, Its outrageous! How abusive, You be the judge. I will have to take him to civil court to get my money...
