La Placita Tacos Al Vapor — Restaurant in Brownsville

Horrible service, but great food. I visited just yesterday. I've been before with a friend but this time alone. I sat down and the waitress made eye contact with me and just continued helping other tables. I wait for 8 mins, still nothing. I dont know Spanish but I know enough to get by. Fortunately the waitress who had been ignoring me speaks english and I ask for a menu. She asks if I'm eating there or to go, as if she clearly didnt see me sitting waiting glancing at her every couple minutes. I order, she brings me condiments, my food which came out great but some very warm hot sauce that felt like it was in the sun for 4 hrs. Oh well. I eat and get up to pay. I am struggling at the counter trying to speak Spanish to pay for my meal and I pay with a card. When asked for a tip I put no because i left cash tip on the table for this bad waitress. $2 on a $7.40 bill. The lady who only speaks Spanish understands I'm not tipping on my card but I dont know how to tell her I left cash on the table so when she realizes I'm not ripping on my card, she gives me my card back and gives me the nastiest looked I've ever seen. It's funny really hahahah once again. Horrible...

This place used to be good. Not anymore. Tortilllas are hard, tacos are underportioned and does not have the authentic tacos al vapor flavor. I called to let them know of the issue and im still waiting for a call back. If you are looking for tacos al vapor try Tacos A Vapor Monterrey on Price Road.

First time trying out this place. I don’t recommend it, I don’t know if it’s like this every day or today was a bad day for them but the food is not good at all. I order a champurrado and it was not hot at all. The tacos Al vapor didn’t taste like tacos Al vapor the tortillas were hard like if they were fried to reheat and the gorditas were so plain and small for $3 each. I was expecting my gordita to be a medium size with cheese and beans and what I got was a gordita with black beans only, no cheese or pinto beans. I won’t be returning...
