This place needs to be shut down. Any reptile store that says no photos allowed only do that because they know that theyâre animals arenât being kept in great conditions. Walked in and saw an Argus monitor and a white tegu both being kept in 30 gallon tanks. Even if it is temporary the tegu couldnât even fully stretch out its body and looked miserable. Many snakes were being cohabited and just way too many snakes per enclosure. One small 5 gallon had to have at least 10 young corn snakes all crawling over each other. The bioactive tanks were all super gross looking. The dart frog enclosures Iâm sure were nice but I literally couldnât even see through the glass through all the algae and hard water spots. I have multiple bioactive setups and it doesnât take much to just clean the doors. Do proper research before adopting a reptile. Lots of people say this stores amazing but they themselves donât even realize what horrible condition theyâre being kept in. They even had like 10 to 15 aquatic turtles all about 3 to 5 inches in shell length in an another 30 gallon tank of multiple different species. Insanely...
Read moreCute animals but honestly I don't think they are quite up to code in terms of animal care. I used to work at an exotic animal sanctuary so I'm not commenting on a baseless opinion. Some of these animals don't have enough room and one of the birds looked absolutely neglected. It was really sad. But I guess if you're looking for a challenge. Buy an animal and see if you can bring them back to health. It's honestly a 50/50 flip if it survives. Only saying this because I worked with all types of exotic animals. From failed neck lizards geckos, and scorpians, to wolves and a zebra with an attitude.. I know how animals should be cared for and I see this location to care more about the quantity of their animals over the quality of their animals. I hope they change. I'm aware pet stores are not always easy to stay in business and corners are commonly cut, but don't do it just so you can make more money. Your no better than a person that abandons a dog on the...
Read moreThis is absolutely the best reptile shop I've ever dealt with. Scales and Tails is a must visit if you're in the Burbank area. The shop seems to be family owned, and it's obvious that the great staff really cares about their animals and their customers. Although their specialty seems to be lizards, especially bearded dragons, they feature several other species- iguanas, chameleons, geckos, basilisks, etc- and a good collection of snakes. If you're a beardie owner like me, or considering becoming one, this place is a godsend. Always a great selection of healthy beardies on display from clutches of adorable new hatchlings, through their stable of colorful and rambunctious adult breeders. They will even board your reptile if you're leaving town. Also a great place to simply bring the kids for a little field trip on a weekend afternoon- although you might leave with a scaly new...
