Fareway Meat and Grocery — Local services in Burlington

Even though we have 2 HyVee grocery stores; this place always reminds me of an old fashioned small town grocery store. And usually they have everything I need or want. This is the only place in town where I can get my big tubs of Parkay margarine. No one else carries them. And I love the meat department; they have always made me feel like I'm a very important customer. Update 05/15/2025 Since leaving the first review. I have become even more of a supporter. Recently I had special request from my wife (who was having a GI procedure) for lemon-lime jello. Before I drove 20 minutes to town, I knew Walmart wouldn't have it so I called and a very nice Deb double checked that they had it. So I can say as a fact that 99% of the time they will have what you're wanting...

We were getting ready to check out and I needed freezer bags for our 2hr drive home, I asked about them and was told if they are not on the shelf then they were out, NOT One employee would go to the back and see if there were any more, then I preceded to check out in the self check out and was having issues with the bag scale and everyone of the employees were watching assuming we were going to steal and would not listen to me when I explained the problem when we were finally done they all followed us out into the parking lot like we were horrible people, My Fiancé and I will NEVER shop at this fareway...

Friendly service! Very rarely a wait longer than a couple of minutes in line because the call some one up to check out right away. Longest lines are around holidays. Meats are fantastic! The meat counter is well staffed. Fresh cuts. Great weekly deals (check out their ads). Items like chicken breasts are huge (one whole breast weighing 1.2 to 1.5 lbs typically)! Great bratwurst!
