My husband had very successful rehabilitation at Butler Rehab and Care Center. A few months prior to his admission there he had hip replacement surgery and was home recovering with that when he had sudden emergency, major, GI surgery. In addition to his recent hip replacement and GI surgery, he had NUMEROUS other chronic and acute medical conditions. After his GI surgery his post operative care needs were so extensive that many other rehabilitation facilities (that the surgeon in KC had suggested) would not accept him specifically BECAUSE of his considerable medical care needs. It was a relief, surprise, and great comfort when we discovered that a facility 4 miles from our home, Butler Rehab and Care, WOULD accept him. It speaks tremendous volumes about a facility that IS willing and especially confident in their staff and their ability to care for a patient with such complicated and serious medical conditions, major health and rehabilitation needs, AND with all of these issues combined, most importantly provide excellent care to him in every aspect of his minor to substantial needs. They were professional and dedicated, but what matters just as much, they CARED. He was very high risk for an infection (that happens SO often in facilities) but did not acquire ANY during his several month stay. Regarding infections acquired in facilities, this was prior to vaccination for Covid and MANY facilities all over the U.S. had the virus spread throughout their buildings and patients. The practices and standards Butler Center for Rehabilitation and Care instituted and followed prevented his exposure. Also, most people don't consider how wearing face masks effects those with hearing loss and/or deafness and how they rely on lip reading (such as my husband did) and they were prepared for and able to communicate with him. I hope this describes how excellent they were with him and expresses how grateful we were/are that he was accepted there to begin with, but also how well he successfully rehabilitated there. When he came home he told me that they spoiled him. 🙂 Thank you, sincerely and with much gratitude, to the D.O.N., nurses, C.N A.'s, dietary, and any/all other ancillary members of...
Read moreHas to be one of the most unprofessional LTC places in Missouri. Luxor Healthcare LLC out of New Jersey is who owns this place. Please do your research before placing a loved one in this facility. Echo & Josh on admin side of things were probably the worst to deal with regarding communication, family involvement and quite frankly lacked professionalism that you would expect. Amanda & Sandra on the nursing side ( CNA ) were quite rude with my mother and spoke to her in a demeaning way multiple occasions. Amanda allowed for my mother that has been diagnosed with dementia …. Let my mom check her self out on a hot summer evening (in her wheelchair with one barely working leg) so she could leisurely wheel herself to the dollar store which is many, many blocks away!!!! My mom could have had a heatstroke or got hit! What are these people thinking?!? I also want to mention Dov Reiss was the gentleman above Josh and was supposedly going to meet with my sister and I and never did. I had to voice numerous concerns & complaints to the home office in New Jersey as well as the state of Missouri and the Ombudsman that handles Bates County, Missouri. Everyone there seemed to steer their own ship and no one cared that my mom needed urgent medical care when it was brought up to staff numerous times. I had to demand to have her taken to the ER room just so she could be placed on antibiotics after suffering weeks long UTI. I’m putting this out there so other familes can do their research and make sure that they are making the best decision when deciding if Luxor/Butler Rehab & Healthcare is right for their loved one. My personal experience, I would suggest to stay clear from this place if...
Read moreOur grandmother is at this facility. And she is not only loved dearly by the amazing staff, but she has become their “Meme” as well. When I see her she is always smiling, they will play her favorite music, and they will dance around her because she’s now unable to stand or walk on her own… it makes her feel like she’s the life of the party again. They take into consideration who she was before her deterioration… and they bring out all the life she still has left. On the bad days they sit and hold her hands… they listen to her antics… and dementia fueled stories… they will even go by names that are not their own… I always told myself a family member of my own would never end up in a nursing home…. But this isn’t a nursing home… it’s a HOME. Filled with love, laughter…...
