Gabe's — Local services in Butler

This is going to be a longer read, I apologize in advance but want to get this out there. Generally I like coming to Gabe’s every so often to check out what they have as this location. They always seem to have neat and nice things for lower prices and who doesn’t love that, and I have never really had any issues here before and just do some shopping and keep to myself. The employees have always been nice as well. Well on 1-10-25 I had stopped at the store in later morning as I was off from work this Friday and it was nice because not a lot of people shopping at this time . I found this pair of pants and was not sure how they would fit and debating just buying them and then returning them if I didn’t like them or the fit, but I decided to end up going to try them on and normally I don’t go into the fitting room to try anything on. I left my cart right outside the stall I was in and had brought my winter coat and little cross body purse in the stall with me. After I tried on the pants , I grabbed my things and the cart and headed back out of the fitting rooms. I did a lap around the store and checked out a few more things on my way to check out . I realized I did not have my purse and panicked and retraced my steps and went back into the fitting room. I did not see it anywhere and briefly checked the counter in there incase anyone had seen it . I told the woman at check out and she was very nice and understanding. The manager came to help and she called over the walkies if a purse had been found since it had not been turned in up front , and another employee states there was one sitting on the counter in the fitting room. If was brought up to me and I looked through it. Of course the cash I had was gone. All my cards were still there, but I cancelled them as a precaution as whoever this person or people was that stole the money obviously went through my purse to get it. I am very glad my purse was found and embarrassed and scared this happened. I have never left my purse anywhere and am not usually forgetful. I don’t know if I dropped it on my way out of the fitting room, or just did not grab it when I thought I did. I realize my fault in this and have learned my lesson to be even more careful and mindful especially when shopping alone. This is very disheartening that this happened and that someone there just felt it acceptable to take from others . Shame on them. Obviously I don’t know who this person is and if it were another shopper, or an employee. I would hope not an employee but unfortunately you can’t be sure anymore as people are just dishonest and selfish. There are not any cameras in the fitting room area and just one outside of the area and the manager has already told me that checking the cameras would not do anything. I know there really just is not anything to do about it and I just have to eat the loss of the missing cash and move on. It’s just upsetting. There was not an employee working directly in the fitting room area either while I was there. I know short staffing is an issue at many places and employees have to take on a lot I am sure, but I would just think in an area like that where merchandise could be more easily stolen , that it would be a little more monitored. Maybe they just don’t care about thefts of merchandise. I don’t know. Who is to say this person who stole from me doesn’t steal from the store and anywhere else. I don’t like to be a judgmental person and always try to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but this situation has just opened my eyes even more that doing that just gets you screwed anymore. You really just cannot trust many people out there anymore to be decent human beings. It just is a crappy situation and sucks that money that you work for gets stolen from you . I would never do this to someone, life can be hard enough sometimes. We should be able to live in a world where if you accidentally leave or drop something that belongs to you, that a person will do the right thing and not take it and turn it in....

Horrible customer service. Went to buy area rugs with my 90 yr old grandma and I had to hunt down someone for help, took over 25mins to try and find someone to help!. When I finally walked all over the store to find someone he had no idea what to do about helping me get a rug off the hanger. He said that they don't even offer tape or nothing for large area rugs basically you have to roll it yourself and hold it yourself and hope an 8'x10' rug don't unroll on you while you try and carry them to the front yourself. Like it was crazy!! He was very rude! And expected us to carry 2, 8ft rugs up front not even tapped by ourselves..so I did what I could myself! If it wasn't for my grandma wanting these items I would of left immediately! Took over 30 mins to even check out. It's worse than Walmart! First and last time I will shop there! The app is also a joke. The lady told me we would have 4 coupons and the purchase on the app, we didn't get a physical receipt. Then the app don't even show that we purchased. Even though we used the rewards card on the app like she told us too.. So I reached out to IT. And they told me that my email is not the same as the app. But yet it is and I can log in on, I used it to make the purchase! All around the store is horrible! The customer service is horrible! Who doesn't like gabes? I got a mug from there around 2 years ago? It's more of a thermos really, but it keeps my coffee hot not warm but hot for at least 12 hours! I can leave it overnight and wake up in the morning and it's still really really warm not lukewarm but still enjoyable.... All that greatness for $4... They have a wonderful selection of different styles, and not only that but if you go into Gabe's and you can't find at least one thing that you like? You're not from this planet!?... LOL.... Jokes aside, it is a wonderful store to shop at, and I'm very happy that it is within walking distance from my home.... Not to mention the cashiers and the other associates are very very helpful and willing to show you exactly where something is..... This is not a store like Walmart that most of us have a love-hate relationship with when it comes to...
