It used to be very good restaurant - we started to dine with salt 5 years ago on weekly basis til about 2 years ago they change the menu - perhaps a chef, and everything went down from there. Food became inconsistent, never enough of staff, cold dining room and live entertainment simply not to the standard. After one bad night - when my steak had to be send 3 times back to the kitchen we decided to take a break. So....we went back recently just out of curiosity and it was a disaster!!!!!!!!!!! My pork duo overpriced by at least $6 was tiny portion of pork belly - not crispy, just raw fat, and tiny square of pork loin which was uncooked and still bleeding - grosss, we were only once dining at the time, dining room was empty. We sent the dish back, we didn't want anything instead. Then i asked for extra dry martini - i was brought over vermouthed drink, such a perfumy taste of vodka - i had to send it back, asked for new one - new one came the same - drunk it with pain so i dont appear rude. Hungry at this point we would like to leave. I asked for the bill - pork dish was out, but first nasty martini was on - manager came to my table to argue that nothing was wrong with the martini and i have to pay for it even if i didnt drink it. As licensed mixologist i knew drink was completely wrong - i was not going to pay for anything i didnt part take on, so I asked the lady manager ' are you that desparate to loose long term client over one drink? ' - she said she ll talk to the owner with very agressive voice, not mentioning there is a 10 y.old sitting at the table. She came back after 5 mins saying both are out of the bill. We will never come back so does our friends. Thats what bad chef and even worse managment can do to once...
Read moreI used to love Salt; I visited regularly for good food and live music, recommended it to others and would bring friends from out of town there. After last nightâs experience Iâm sad to say I will not be returning.
Upon arriving we asked if we could eat at the bar; after ordering drinks we realized the bartender was avoiding taking our food order. After a half hour we were finally told in a very matter of fact way that âthereâs no eating at the bar.â Iâve never had that experience at another restaurant so it seemed odd that they wouldnât communicate that when we arrived.
Then after another half hour we were seated at a table upfront so close to the music (Rick Fink or something like that was playing) that we couldnât even speak to one another. We were obviously struggling and the musician continued to play louder and actually made fun of us to the restaurant because we asked to be moved to the back. Our party at Salt last night all play in bands and we all would never be so inconsiderate and rude to listeners/diners. It was embarrassing for the washed up musician forgetting the lyrics and for the restaurant staff, who was so unaware of the crowd flooding out of the dining hall because of his obnoxious stage volume.
After several rounds of musical chairs proposed by the staff, we finally got our decent food. Everything was⌠ok. This used to be an elite local dining experience and now itâs middle of the road at best. I was bragging about the wings to our friend I brought from out of town and he was seriously questioning my judgment after eating the lack luster poultry.
The whole experience was bizarre, awkward, unsatisfactory and a bit torturous. Salt should rename their restaurant to The...
Read moreMy new local favorite. I love everything about this place. They serve superior eats in a casual pub style restaurant bar that also serves a host of many different beers. Staff is professional, friendly and accommodating. I had a milk stout that was off the chain. Our appetizer was the short rib egg roll. My boyfriend gave me that look, but after he tried the marriage of texture and flavor, he was sold. There was nothing I would change or add to this dish, it was stimulating, a great starter. My entree was rosemary chicken over sweet potato puree w fried parsnips. It's just chicken right? How good can it possibly be? Well, it was perfect. The flavors married in my mouth in perfect harmony. The chicken was not dry. I've eaten at many many restaurants in my day; very "fine" restaurants that just could not hold a candle to this flavor profile. I cannot wait to try everything else on the menu. I'm very happy. Zero to complain of and the price is...
