I had moved to Andover about 3 months ago. I called the CVS of Stanhope to have them have my prescriptions transferred from my old pharmacy, which is standard procedure, around noon. The guy I spoke with told me they would be transferred and ready to pick up later that evening. I tried calling them around 6pm to see if the prescriptions were ready. After a couple hours of being on hold, I called the front of the store and had to argue with a not so nice lady, who picked up the phone, just to speak with a pharmacist or whoever manages the pharmacy department. Conveniently enough, by the time I spoke with someone (IT WAS NOT THE PHARAMCIST) it was about an hour from close time. The lady who eventually helped me on the phone was talking with the pharmacist while I was not on hold. I could hear the pharmacist in the background, nasty as could be, say that she doesn’t have time to take care of my prescriptions.
It doesn’t end there. I gave them another chance since it should be the most convenient pharmacy for me for me to use. Again, I had to call to ask about my prescriptions being ready as I had not received any notifications that I am signed up for. Again, I was on hold for quite a while and just decided to go there as I was running out anyway. The prescription was ready and I picked it up without trouble.
Ok, maybe they just had a bad day or two over there. Nope. Dropped off 4 new rx’s. I was asked if I would be waiting for them. I then asked how long they would take to be ready. I was then told by the same person that they were closing soon and she could have them ready the next morning. The next morning, not even very early, I go to the pharmacy and the prescriptions are not ready. The guy I spoke with said they would be ready in an hour. I am set up to receive notifications about my prescriptions. I never got anything so I called and 3 of 4 were ready. One of which was a medication for an upcoming surgery that was previously scheduled then delayed due to an unrelated medical problem. At first, I was told there was no record of the prescription. Then, I was told it expired.
Some of the employees behind the pharmacy are very nice and very helpful. You can tell they try to get stuff done for their patients. It seems like the actual pharmacists and some technicians are just some of the rudest, laziest, arrogant people.
I’ve heard it first hand over the phone and I work in the medical field. I am often required to correspond with pharmacies for my patients. I have a pretty good understanding of how things work on their end so I can tell you, they tell their patients a lot of excuses as to why something was not done or just not done properly.
My next step will be an official complaint to the state board of health if this continues any longer. The way they operate is truly unacceptable and unfair to their patients. It’s kind...
Read moreSave yourself the trouble and go across the street to ShopRite Pharmacy-similar hours. This CVS pharmacy is an absolute nightmare. It is very disorganized and I had a staff member lie to me. They called me saying a prescription I have renewed on a regular basis was called in too early to be covered by my insurance. I told them I understand that, and that I had just had the appointment with that doctor so that's why it was called in a bit on the early side. I asked them to kindly hold the script on file, and fill it when insurance would allow. When it was time for it to be filled, I called them, and they told me hey had no record of the medication being called in. They have also mismanaged some of my medications when there has been a change in dosage (totally boggles their minds!) in terms of how they handle it with my insurance. My doctor told me to suggest to them that maybe they were putting it in as a certain code and not the correct one and when I politely suggested this, they were completely offended and very rude.
My son also had to have liquid medication for acid reflux as a baby. They consistently gave us too little and we had to at multiple times pay for extra when we ran out. Nothing like a screaming newborn/infant at home in excruciating pain because they couldn't measure the liquid out correctly. I'm a chemistry teacher and even did the math and measured out the liquid meds myself with what we had, presented them with the numbers, and they scoffed at me. That was he last straw, so I took my business across the highway to shop rite.
My son now has the flu, and his doc by accident called tamiflu into CVS instead of shop rite like we requested. Sure enough, I get a text from them saying it's not in stock! Tamiflu NOT IN STOCK?! You're a pharmacy for goodness sakes!! But guess what-shop rite had it-no problem!
Moral of the story, save yourself the time, aggregation, stress, and humiliation, and go across the highway to shop rite where they are quick, competent, personable, and have never given...
Read moreThis store is awful! Today my daughter was prescribed an inhaler bc she can’t breathe and she’s on the spectrum and requires a spacer or else she is unable to use it. I called prior to picking up her inhaler at like 2:30pm they said yes they have it. I arrive and double check again stating her age and I ask how to use it and everyone is clueless. They instruct me to use the instructions which don’t tell you much. I get home and it doesn’t connect to my inhaler so I call and they said oh well that’s the only one we had so you can bring it back and we will refund you. I drive back down and ask again if they know how to use it. They all stared at me. The one lady kept talking about how it’s almost 5pm and she needs to leave soon. She grabs the box as I’m reviewing the instructions and brings it to the register. I ask to be refunded in cash as I paid debit and the one lady said yeah no problem. The lady who was getting ready to leave at 5pm says I’ll refund you. I said can you make sure it’s cash bc I don’t have the funds to cover the 3-5 wait for the return. The lady looks at me and says nope sorry it goes back how u pay. I said are you sure it’s debit and she’s like yup. I go to walk out and I ask if the guy up front is the store manager he says no and asks why and I explain. He confirmed the lady in the back was wrong and took my info. I get home and call corporate and they keep me on hold for an hour and tell me they will correct the issue bc my daughters health is what’s important and an hour later I get $10 added to my care account and a I’m sorry they can’t help you bc they refunded your script. So my daughter who couldn’t breathe didn’t get the spacer she needed for her breathing. They left her high and dry. Luckily I found ONE person online on FB of all places who had two spacers and gave them to me for free. They were used but who cares I cleaned them and was able to administer my daughters medication. I am beyond disgusted with CVS...
