So I have been shopping here for about 5 months now, since we moved in the area. My husband and I have been eating so well since coming here, for a few dollars a meal. Example, Monday I had organic chicken pineapple teriyaki meatballs, over a asparagus risotto with a orange teriyaki sauce and crushed pineapple in the rice. I paid 1.49 for the meatballs (usually 3.99 or 4.49 in the regular stores) paid 2 packs of risotto for 1.00, crushed pinapple can 50 cents and the orange teriyaki was 40 cents a jar. (of which I used maybe a 8th of it), so for basically 3.10 cents we had a whole meal with starch, meat, fruit and veggies for 1.55 a serving. Tuesday we had chicken in adobe black bean rice. The chicken was in the frozen area- boneless meat 1.99; rice 50 cents a box for zatarans adobo garlic black bean mix; grape tomatos, 99 cents for a pint (I used half), chopped onion and orange peppers sautes on top and put in a hard shell taco bowl, ortega brand, bought for 50 cents. Dinner cost approximately 4 dollars- maybe a few cents more as I added a dollup of sour cream on top!! But about 2.05 a person for that meal . Weds had 5 cheese brats (1.49) with tender cooked cabbage (39.lb), butter noodles (50 cents a bag) and onion/ peppers cooked with it. Cost about 3.75 total when you add butter. Had green grapes on the side -about 1.00 worth. 4.75 a meal, 2.37 a person and had enough for lunch the next day for 2 people. Thursday Chicken fajitas . Perdue bag of oven roasted chicken, (1.99), 1 pepper and 1 onion and 1/2 lime, sour cream (.10 worth )and verde salsa (10 cents), guacamole (.99) , can black beans (.50 ) , ortega wheat tortillas (.20) Used a spponful of left over rice from Monday dinner to add to it free. Bout 4.00 And Friday was the splurge! 1 lb frozen garlic mussels (1.40), can of white clam sauce (.50), 1 box thin spaghetti (.75), 1/2 stick butter (.37) , Lettuce (.65) & added half of grape tomatoes (.49), Carrot (.10) and paul Newmans Caesar dressing (.50) Approx 4.50 and added a dessert of microwave cake for 60 cents!! About 2.55 per person that night. Total 5 days for dinners with BB's? Approximately 21-22 dollars for 2, a week...
Read moreMy mom and I always have fun when we visit BB's. We only get there once a year, twice at most (because we live far away), so it's something we look forward to. We buy food, but mainly go to see what kinds of toiletries & household items are available. Inventory and availability is always changing, so it's exciting to see what they have. They now even sell clothing. As far as health and beauty items...most are on shelves, but some are in raised open boxes, so you sort thru them to see what you can find. The boxes are about 3.5' up off the ground, so you don't need to bend over. Employees regularly organize this area, making things easier to find. Items are clearly labeled with prices. There's a large parking lot with more than enough spaces. There's handicapped spaces and automatic doors to enter/exit the store.
Here's a price comparison of some items I bought at BB's today*:
• L'Oreal Wrinkle Expert Day/Night Moisturizer Walmart: $10.12 BB's: $5.00
• Love Beauty and Planet Shampoo CVS: $8.69 Walmart: $6.94 BB's: $1.75
•Garnier Whole Blends Conditioner CVS: $4.19 BB's: $1.75
• Pantene "Hot Mama" Heat activated hair (re)freshing spray Walmart: $6.97 BB's: $1.75
• Chap Stick (I Love Summer variety 3-pack) CVS: $4.79 Walmart: $3.47 BB's: $1.50
• Hot Hands Hand Warmers Walmart price: $0.88 BB's price: $0.50
• L'Oreal Colorista 1-Day Color Walmart: $6.99 BB's: $2.00
Hopefully my price comparisons helped put into perspective some great deals you could find at BB's.
*Please keep in mind BB's inventory is constantly changing. Also, store's prices change frequently and can vary by location. These prices were accurate when they...

The USDA says that canned tuna, soups, and vegetables can be stored for two to five years, while high-acid foods like tomatoes, pickles, and canned juices can be stored for up to 18 months. Packaged foods Packaged foods like cookies, cereal, and pasta can be eaten past their "best by" date, but they may become stale or develop an off flavor over time. Candy Most candies can be eaten past their expiration date, but the quality and texture may decline. Other foods that may be safe to eat after their expiration date include: Cake mix, Applesauce, Hard cheeses, Eggs, Bread, Butter, Dry pasta, and Salad mixes. However, eating expired food can lead to food poisoning and other health complications, especially for vulnerable populations. It's safest to not eat food after its "use by" date, especially if it's a food that spoils easily, like fresh fruits and vegetables. Even if the food has been cooked, it may not be safe to eat if it has become...
