Dollar General — Local services in Calera

Awful store! Let’s start with the parking lot. So much oil, grease, old gum & trash, it’s disgusting! Next, the front glass doors look like they haven’t been cleaned in years...nasty. Front doors always propped open in the summer, so it’s about 90 degrees in there. Don’t bother getting a cart....you can’t navigate it up and down the isles with all the stock sitting everywhere, and I mean everywhere! If you do manage to find an item you needed in stock, be prepared to wait a while to check out. You either can’t find a clerk (believe me, they’re not busy stocking) or they have one register open with 10 people in line. Total nightmare from beginning to end, and it’s like this all the time. I won’t go in for months and think, I’ll try again and see if they’ve got it together yet.....nope!! Never do. This has been going on for the past 8 years I’ve lived here, so nothing new. Seems like since they re-designed the interior layout a few years back, it’s gone downhill from there. You can only cram so much stuff in a small space. The clothing isle always looks like a bomb just went off.......no, make that the entire store looks that way!! Just don’t understand why this store can’t seem to get organized. I’m sure it’s a...

Although Dollar General Stores hires people from all nations, the store is often careless when it comes to customer care. A Dollar General store employee on Jeff Road in Harvest, Alabama, once stole some items that the customer left and the customer never even got a call from the GM about the theft. Now, for absolutely no reason, except for the ignorance of the store manager, the police were called on a customer who is a regular customer at the store. Vickie, another manager, was kind, professional and caring. The police called was a man of GOD. Thus, thank GOD Sargent Christopher Blake Atkins answered the call and not some callous officer with a pattern of beating down unsuspecting citizens.

Consequently, when someone is guilty of calling the police for frivolous reasons, that person should be met with the strictest jail time because police are overworked, underpaid and for the most part risking their lives for people who, generally, don’t care about anything but themselves. As a Fortune 200 company located in over 40 states, Dollar General Stores should have to face a class action cause for their part in hiring ignorant, unprofessional as well as discriminatory acts. I recently bought the clover valley rice and about half way through the bag, I noticed bugs, moths and beetles alive in the bag and thousands of small bits of fecies. Obviously my first thought was maybe it came from the bag being opened during or after processing and sale.. Until today, I went to Dollar General, which by the way is my favorite store, but during my trip I passed the rice so I grabbed a bag, and then that's when I noticed the same bugs, moths and beetles, with the same thousands of tiny bits of fecies.. I then told the manager and showed her, we went back to the isle to notice all the small bags were fine, but the medium and larger bags were full of it.. so my advice check your food before you buy it, especially CLOVER...
