This place has been on my list for a long time. I was excited to finally get to stop and try it out. When I walked in, I was amazed at the atmosphere and how well decorated this location is we were greeted by a warm and welcoming staff member who took us to our table and promptly asked for our drink order, the chips and salsa were brought out which I must add. The salsa was delicious, but perhaps needed just a little salt since there was no salt or pepper on the table speaking of things on the table this restaurant offers a bottle of hand sanitizer which I noticed was at every table. I thought that was a very unique gesture, which are utilized. We ordered steak fajitas and a picture of lime margaritas on the rocks. Both came out quickly. The margaritas were delicious and the steak fajitas were extraordinary. They even came with a sauce or juice like substance that I gladly poured over my fajitas which only increased the taste and juiciness, the staff continue to check on us throughout our visit making sure that we had everything we needed. I found this to be a wonderful experience and so glad that I finally had an opportunity to stop. We were informed that there’s already a location in Birmingham and another location that will be open soon in Pelham. I look forward to the day when we can return and have another wonderful meal. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is in the area looking for authentic...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ MAMA COCO Cantina in Calera is an absolute treasure! The cultural ambiance is vibrant, and the Coco-themed art brings a warm, family-friendly atmosphere to the restaurant. The service is outstanding—my server was a cool, professional boxer who was both knowledgeable and personable, adding to the overall great experience. I had the Durango Steak, which was a ribeye cooked to perfection, paired with 5 jumbo shrimp grilled just right. The steak was topped with a delicious fajita butter that took the dish to another level! It came with steamed veggies covered in their famous cheese sauce and a side of authentic Spanish rice. The plating was beautiful—everything was as impressive visually as it was delicious. My daughter loved her quesadillas, calling them the best she’s ever had. The slow-cooked beans with roasted pork were rich and flavorful. My mom enjoyed the Pollo Loco, which was juicy grilled chicken on a bed of rice and cheese sauce. The restaurant is laid-back during the week but transforms into a fun karaoke spot on weekends with half-off drinks and great music! I also had a Texas Margarita, made with 5 different liquors—it was amazing, possibly the best margarita I’ve ever had! If you’re in Calera, don’t miss MAMA COCO Cantina! Five-star authentic Mexican food, incredible service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Me and my family Highly recommend! P.S portion...

We ordered through doordash and had an issue with the driver saying they had an emergency and left our order at the restaurant. We went to pick our food up and come to find out the driver took the food and left our order in progress! We were so confused as we have never had this happen. All the staff were so super helpful and caring. They even contacted the driver when we were unable and told them they needed to bring it back to them. They remade our food for us and it tasted AMAZING! Definitely some of the best Mexican food we have found in the area. The restaurant was super clean and every single person we had contact with was as nice as can be. They could have told us to take our problems up with doordash, and let it be. But they choose to help in every way they could. We definitely will be back. Owners, if you read these reviews, please give your staff working the night of 2/15/25 a huge kuddos. The best customer...

Love Mama Cocos food!! but you need to know what not to order. Get spinach queso instead of queso. It is thick and creamy with corn and spinach. Regular queso is thin and very disappointing. Skip the Mexican guacamole ( usually my favorite dish) because it is mostly pico de Gallo and very little avocado. Every main dish we've gotten has been really good. Street corn is amazing!! Great Texas and Coconut Margaritas. A pitcher costs the same as two large drinks so it's a better deal if you have several people ordering margaritas. Ask if the flan is fresh. If so, it is the best flan you'll ever eat. Once it sits for a day or two, not so much. Service could be better- seems to be hit or miss based on the server. The menu is very extensive with lots of vegetarian options and unusual items you won't find at many other Mexican restaurants. We pass two other Mexican restaurants to eat here. Give it a try! šŸŒ¶ļø
