I went to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for a gallbladder attack. { I thought I may need Emergency surgery & my Colorectal Surgeon is at Cooper.} I was received well in the Emergency Room. Staff were all very kind & professional. After being seen, evaluated, test taken, imaging, urinalysis, bloodwork, etc. I was finally taken upstairs to the 9th floor. The first Nurse I encountered; I could not tell you her name because she NEVER told me her name, left quite a bit to be desired to say the least. That Nurse did not introduce herself to me upon our initial interaction. She did not tell me her name and she did not greet me!!!!!! So, I said hi đ to her, not once but twice! I had told this Nurse that I had to use the bathroom đ». Due to not being able to sleep & being given opiods for my pain; I asked the Nurse if she could assist. { I felt extremely uneasy & not very comfortable at all.} Nurse escorted me to a makeshift breakroom, there were no beds in this room with bookbags & various personal items laid around the room. So after I used the bathroom I asked the Nurse, {name unknown}, if I could please have a pillow & some water. I explained the importance of my being hydrated due to my health conditions. I never got the pillow & I never got some water. { basic request & oftentimes, both items readily available}. So hours passed, I was on a bed đ, in the hallway. Not only was I extremely uncomfortable, near delirious from lack of rest & the opiods that were given for pain, I was pretty disgusted about being subjected to having to be in a hallway where it is totally impossible to rest. The Nurse never brought me the pillow or water so I requested items from the Manager of that floor or Unit. The Nurse eventually came back & told me that I cannot use the bathroom that she had taken me to previously. She did not tell me nor show me what bathroom I could use either. That Nurse failed! She failed by not doing one of the most important tasks: she failed to make an introduction, she failed to greet me also. I felt pretty uncomfortable & extremely dissapointed. The Manager eventually brought me a pillow & some water. After spending hours in the hallway; uncomfortable, no sleep, hungry & rejected, the second Nurse Mimi, on the ninth floor told me I finally got a room. Unfortunately though, I had a roommate. Fast đââïž â©ïž forward; on Sunday evening I had requested pain medication đ from the Nurse that was preparing to end her shift. She said that she would tell the Nurse coming on duty that I needed something for pain, that was shortly before 7 p.m. I had dozed off, woke up & realized that the Nurse working the next shift never came in & did not bring me anything for the pain. So; I walked over to the Nurses station & asked what's going on. I told the worker behind the desk that I never got my pain medication or the towels that I had requested from the Tech hours earlier. I was not received very well on the 9th floor from several Nurses unfortunately. When I was explaining the situation to the Tech sitting behind the desk, one Nurse stood up from sitting & said, " we're not going to have that here tonight". I said, " we're not going to have what????". Then she tells me " I am your Nurse & I did not come to your room because we are very busy." I was very surprised to hear that comment & all the more disgusted by being made to wait hours for pain medication đ & for towels so that I could take a shower. I said to the Nurse, you were " too busy to come to my room at the start of your shift to make an introduction & to say hello đ or hi to me & to bring me pain medication so I was made to suffer from pain & being uncomfortable & I had to wait for hours for someone to bring me towels so that I could take a shower đż & no one ever came! I told the Nurse that since she neglected to care for me, her patient she does not have to come to my room I will request another Nurse & she can keep the pain medication. She responded with, : no, I am your Nurse & you will not get...

Why are you guys giving my pregnant woman ONDANSETRON ???????????
Anyways, The culture of this hospital to say the least clearly has not changed (reading reviews from over 4 years ago), and likely wonât ever⊠hereâs my throughout and honest review of this âestablishmentâ.
Vibes:
This hospital is not welcoming at all, the workers do not have welcoming gestures or faces. When my fiancé walked in and greeted this woman at the Dorrance desk, she dismissed the greeting and started to converse with a really aggravated tone. (The place was empty by the way.)- like why are you aggravated especially after you were just greeting in a sweet tone.
This same woman that works at the Dorrance Desk on the 6th floor with the glasses and upward pointed eyebrows has a very unprofessional demeanor long story short.
Anyway, You would think a woman entering the facility and being pregnant needing all the love, positive energy, and empathy would get the most outstanding, professional treatment, and attention during her pregnancy while visiting this hospital especially considering this is a woman dominated facility Unfortunately, this is not the case.
Oddly enough, my pregnant fiancĂ© tells me that she thinks they donât like when Iâm there as an active parent/father and being attentive and at her appointments with her.
They are very dismissive and when I went with my Fiance to her last appointment they were being very rude and was telling me I wasnât needed and that I could wait outside. I was told this twice in like 3 minutes.
Customer service:
Absolutely TERRRIBLE, no sense of urgency and they are not attentive at all. The workers seem more into their conversations and taking lunch than to make sure their patients are comfortable and not in need.
Being a Rutgers University Grad from New Brunswick and had taken health courses as well as psychology I know the requirements and academics standards needed to become a nurse or health care workerâŠ
while with my fiancĂ© at one of her appointments that some and probably most of the health workers donât have the best academic resume meaning they took shortcuts and somehow got the position (Bypassed math and Sciences) to me itâs mind blowing because you should have the whole package to be a nurse or hospital worker In general to adequately care, manage, and communicate effectively.
I witnessed a nurse literally arguing with a patient that was in pain and threaten to her her kicked out if she didnât âshut upâ. When I say this place is justâŠ. Well below average. I mean it; I know most people read reviews and take them with a grain of salt but when you visit and see what I mean, just laugh at loud and think of this review.
Visiting this hospital I see all the holes in not just the service but with the entire structure of how they run business. All the workers care about their money, as if they are all running an independent business.
Yâall are there to help and service the community, not argue with patients and use discriminatory tactics or discretion in regards to taking in a patient.
Itâs straight sick here. They gave my PREGNANT fiancĂ© ONDANSETRON ! Just google it for those lost in the sauce. They are delusional, ghetto, uneducated, and at fault.

Read moreMy father was there for 4 days being transferred from urgent care, let me started off by saying NEW STAFF IS MUCH NEEDED IN THE FRONT DESK LOBBY in the main hospital IMMEDIATELY, starting off with the manager or whatever she is. Some of them are just plain rude disrespectful and have no Patient/visitors Communication skills. There was one young lady who really stood out to me not in a good way it was on Friday May 24 9pm she was the only one up there she had curly hair she was sitting towards the left Starbucks side & I was told from emergency room to ask for a courtesy parking pass because now at that time I got the news my father was being admitted for possible emergency surgery, this young lady proceeded to tell me your father doesnât have cancer wasnât here for 11 days canât give you that in such a rude way. I just walked away because at the time I didnât feel like going back & forth with her maybe she was going through something. From Friday May 24- May 27 he was in Cooper Hospital Main Hospital all the staff in his care team treated him so GREAT & im so thankful for that now on May 26 AGAIN Front Desk Lobby GAVE SO MUCH TROUBLE DURNING VISITING HOURS, now Iâm not speaking for all of the staff members down there because I went down there personally and some where every great and help me out but if you reading this you know exactly who you are đ€š, âeven after nurses, DOCTORS , putting information visitor rules information in his chart & calling down they was still giving trouble but eventually things got sorted out. But there was one nurse on the 8th north floor that did give my family trouble. âShe goes by Megâ she made myself & family EVERY MUCH uncomfortable not only was she physically not my fatherâs nurse but she felt the need to make comments about us using the family room to sit and talk , to my fatherâs nurse at the time when she didnât even know the whole situation she didnât know what the plan was why we was there. I did speak to the head nurse on that floor Grace and I do thank her for taking care of the situation,. Now today is Discharged day 5/27/2024 finally !!! the Doctor knows the hell we been through!! letâs us know hey let front desk know today to give you a courtesy pass any problems have them call up , while they are bringing my father down from discharge, ask from desk OF COURSE problems again now this young lady said free parking is only for staff and just has the most nasty attitude calls up the 8th floor and speaks to some lady called âAndyâ she was sitting in the last chair towards the right like if you where going to catch the elevator. Cooper Hospital is not a bad place is the certain people that are employee there that gives it itâs bad reputation . Must do better đ
When spoke to Main Hospital Front Desk Manager she followed up by saying cancer wasnât even popping up in his chart she clearly didnât even look at his chart*
Sincerely, A cancer survivor & His...
