There are for sure a few ups on this place, but from my experience a lot of gaps that can be filled for improvement. When I first moved into legends I specifically requested a first floor room, and the employee I talked with guaranteed I would be having a first floor apartment, no charges. Fast forward I have my car loaded up and didnât have anyone there to help because again, I was only moving into the first floor. I walked into the office to officially sign my lease and get my keys and then I was told âsomething happened with my roommateâ and I got located to the THIRD floor. Well I had no where else to live so I took the offer, and moved all of my stuff up by myself. I then asked if a first floor room were to open up could I possibly switch? They assured me of course due to the fact of me relocating wasnât my fault. Fast forward, this is where the trouble starts to pile up. My roommate and I had conflicting schedules, not her fault at all. The walls are thin and I could hear every thing from my neighbors, and especially when my roommate had guests over. The day I moved there was a crack above my door that was from the building settling that got filled in. My front door had to literally be tackled like a linebacker to be opened. The day of moving out the actual handle fell off the door, and my friends almost got locked out of the apartment. Again I didnât really have any issues up until this point. I then was informed by another resident that a first floor room was open because they spoke to the manager about switching rooms and they asked if I wanted to be their roommate. (This was about 3 weeks after I moved in) I then visited the leasing office and told them about switching and they said of course after the room has been inspected and made sure everything was functioning I could move. Then they explained I had to pay a relocation fee which was around $200 (give or take). I explained to them I was moved last minute and told I didnât have to pay a fee, but the employee who handled my contract quit so there was no proof. Then I received a call the next week saying I could move in. I packed up half of my apartment and called down and was told âthat employee was confused, the room isnât readyâ. The NEXT week I saw them using that exact apartment on Instagram as a showroom. Again I was irritated but I just casually sat and waited. I was told that I had to wait because COVID was starting up so I couldnât relocate due to students who lived in the dorms were moving into certain apartments (Three months passed and I never heard another word about it again). I then fell under one of the clauses to terminate a lease, due to a circumstance I had no control over. I had a hard time by doing so and had to hire a legal assistant in efforts to educate the employees of legends that holding me in my lease was illegal. By this time I was out of the area due to my situation and had to have some friends move my stuff. I finally got the OK to move out, without a termination fee and all credits on my balance would be paid back to me. I had my friends move me out; turn in all of my keys, and gate button and even signed paperwork saying they did so. A few days later I received an email saying my keys were never turned in and Iâll have a termination fee if I donât do so. Again that is illegal hence why I got a lawyer, you cannot charge someone a termination fee when they fall under the clause of cancelling a lease at the drop of a hat, and the keys were already turned in so I shouldnât be charged in the first place. Come to find out the employee that accepted the keys was FIRED. So the keys were never given to the manager. Months passed and I never received my refund check. I called and spoke to an employee who said my money went into an early termination fee and I actually still owe them money. I asked to speak to the manager and found out they donât have one anymore! So long story short, the employee turnover rate is ridiculous there. I lost out on a months worth of rent I was supposed to get back, and a very upset...
Read morei will not be sharing my name because in response to other reviews the manager has given out peopleâs personal information (nicknames, places of employment.. completely unprofessional). there was a power outage here that lasted almost a week, and now the wifi has been out all day despite the manager saying people were âworking on itâ. Updates for stuff like this are not sent out unless we call multiple times to ask about it. The building is built poorly and is infested with bugs. i have been harassed out in the parking lot by a large group of men sitting on the hood of my car. the gate is never closed so if youâre looking for security donât live here. I have woken up to a weird noise at my door and found something lodged in between the locks as if someone was breaking in. Another time a worker was trying to open my door. I followed him out to his truck and he said âit was the wrong apartmentâ and drove away. My door is constantly breaking and being âfixedâ then breaking again, my top lock hasnât worked for months and there is a huge gap in my door. None of the doors inside my apartment close properly and there are huge cracks all over the apartment from the building âsettlingâ. Nobody keeps their dog on a leash or picks up after them. I donât understand why people donât take their dogs to the dog park to let them poop instead of out in the parking lot. my neighbor yells at his dog every single day because it is not on a leash. i have seen dogs alone walking around the parking lot at night, which is not safe for them. no action is taken when people donât pick up after their dogs or are seen in broad daylight without a leash on. there is poop EVERYWHERE... at least once a day i watch a dog pooping in front of my apartment and their owners do not pick up after them because they know there are no consequences for it. a dog recently DIED from parvo on the premises here, which means someone was able to sneak an unvaccinated animal into the complex or the staff just didnât check their shot records. there are constantly screaming drunk drivers here on the weekends which worries me that someone will crash into my car, especially because they are not parking in the visitor section. i have videos of drunk people fighting and screaming outside of my apartment on the weekends, I wouldnât be surprised if someone got shot here within the next year. if you are looking for a safe place to live that is worth the price, i would recommend looking elsewhere. if you are a single woman do NOT walk alone...
Read moreI lived at Legends Canyon for 3 years and recently moved out, and I can honestly say this place has been nothing but a headache from start to finish. The management is unprofessional, unhelpful, and clearly more interested in squeezing every dollar out of tenants than providing a decent living experience.
The ONLY reason I stayed as long as I did was because of timing and the fact that it's fully furnished, but if you have other optionsâtake them. Hereâs why:
Short-Term Lease Scam: They don't advertise âlimited availabilityâ for short-term leases, but there are only 5 for the entire complex. On top of that, they make you pay nearly double rent just to get one. Itâs nothing more than a money grab.
False Advertising of Amenities: The gym and study room are available, but everything else is a joke. The pool is always âunder maintenance,â yet Iâve NEVER once seen anyone working on it. Itâs closed all spring (when residents might actually use it) and doesnât open until summer when students are gone. Youâre paying for amenities you donât even get.
Move-Out Charges: After being a loyal 3-year resident and keeping my units clean (no pets, regular cleaning), they still tried to charge me for things that clearly fall under normal wear and tearâlike touch-up paint and carpet cleaning, which per their own lease is supposed to be done between tenants. Worse, they admitted the paint damage existed BEFORE I moved in and promised maintenance would fix it, but never did. Now theyâre charging me for it. Completely unethical.
Unit Issues Every Year: I transferred units multiple times, each with its own problems. The complex it's self is filthy the stairwells need more than a power wash, dog poop is all around the property, theres mice, and is overall poorly well kept. No wonder why they try to nickel-and-dime their tenants, for something that is their responsibility.
Bottom line: Legends Canyon is overpriced, poorly managed, and absolutely not worth the headache. Save yourself the stress, because this place does not âlive legendaryâ like they claim. Oh and speaking to the manager... good luck getting her...
