This review is a little awkward to write but I feel compelled to share my experience at Uplift Intimate Apparel for all the guys out there. For my mother’s 60th birthday (August 2020) we had planned a large surprise party with family and friends flying in from all over the country but COVID-19 upstaged us with a surprise of its’ own. So instead of a lavish party, we were left with a modest little vigil and I was left scrambling for a suitable gift to say, “I’m sorry that COVID-19 ruined your 60th birthday and that you have not been able to see your extended family or friends for months but hey, remain positive for a healthy mental state as we get through this together.”

Long story short, I decided to find an organic way to boost her self-esteem, confidence, and body image which lead me to talk with the owner of Uplift – Carla. I explained my dilemma and asked for her assistance and we made an appointment for mother to come in for a bra fitting and to obtain shapewear. I will point out that while my mother is the absolute nicest woman in the world she is not a size 4 or 6 (any more detail and I will not be welcomed home for Christmas) and self-confidence seems to reign more freely with her kids than herself. Therefore, walking into Uplift or making an appointment for a bra fitting would be too emotionally encumbering to do on her own so after talking with Carla I knew this would be the perfect birthday gift.

At the appointment, Carla had a compassionate, welcoming demeanor that immediately assuaged any fears or insecurities. While the two women were confabulating and picking out new garments I sat in a very comfortable chair towards the front of the store and responded to emails staying out of the way. I cannot tell you exactly how or why but as mother and I walked out of the store with her bounty in tow she had an aura of serenity about her. Being a guy, I had no idea that a correctly fitted bra and some shapewear could have an almost immediate impact on one’s disposition as they will walk a little taller and have more swagger. It also did not go unnoticed from the other ladies at the office 😊.

My advice for any guy looking for a thoughtful gift for any lady in their life is to connect with Carla at Uplift and talk through your ideation for a gift and give her a budget and get out of the way – she is the consummate professional and you will not be...

If you are looking for someone friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about bras, Uplift is THE place to go for a fitting! Carla listened to my feedback, taking into account what I liked/didn't like about each bra. There were so many options (even with my being plus size) that I was able to choose bras that not only look great but also FEEL great. (A HUGE contrast to my past experiences at big box stores where they've always pushed me towards whatever they had in the store that "worked the best", but didn't actually fit me properly). I came in nervous about what I was going into, and I left with a big smile on my face and brand new bras in hand!

I also want to mention that while I was there, another customer come in and, after a few try-ons, Carla realized they did not have the right items available in store at the moment for her. I overheard Carla offer to order some items for her to come back in to try-on another time if they wanted, but Carla also suggested another store that the customer could go to that day instead of waiting. I was pleasantly surprised by the care Carla showed towards the customer and their comfort over "getting the sale".

The best bra shopping experience you’ll ever get! They were so welcoming upon arrival, and gave me a 1 on 1 experience which I’ve never really had anywhere else. Was looking for the perfect bra and knew I was wearing the wrong bra size. After many bras, Katie helped me find the perfect one, and she also added some onto my wishlist which weren’t in my budget that day. I appreciated that she asked what my budget was and we stayed within it! They have something around 120-140 bra sizes, which was very impressive. I drove 40 minutes just to visit this place and find a bra that fit me, since I never can find a perfectly fitting bra even at places like Victoria’s Secret. I also love that they aren’t crazy expensive. That was my expectation going in, but the prices range pretty much exactly what Victoria’s Secret range is, except for the more luxury bras which I understand would be pricier. All around the service was outstanding, the shop was lovely, and I will never shop at Victoria’s Secret again!! I will gladly make the 40 minute drive just to shop there again. Lastly, after I purchased a few data later I received a hand written note thanking me for coming in and shopping with them. Now THAT is customer service!! Would 1000% recommend this place...
