We visited Velo Sports Center whilst on vacation from the UK as our son has taken up track cycling and really wanted to both get in some training whilst we were away and experience the Olympic track in LA. Everyone was so welcoming, from the reception team (one of whom actually lent some of his own personal equipment) to the coaches during the youth session who were incredibly supportive whilst he was on the track, and the adults in the later session who gave him the opportunity to stay on and train with them. Read moreThe place is great. Entry is free most days and you can check the people trainning there. They have this wall where they document the history of the place through the years. The place is a certified olympic facility and one of the trainer was said to me is a olympian winner. The velodrome is in pristine conditions. They maintain it clean. You can even volunteer to get some credit for paying for instruction. The price for free-trainning is 66 dollars a month. Most events are free but their some national competitions that are ticket-required only. However the tickets for this kind of sport is cheap. Read moreNot sure about now, but back in 88 I went there for the AFA bmx freestyle championship, watching all the pros: Itson, Aparajo, McCoy, Dominguez, Wilkerson, Blyther, The K, Lungmustard, Fiola (lacking a sponser for that show), Hoffman. Me and friend of mine stayed at Ron Camero's home and jammed with everyone we could find. It was a once in a lifetime thing. The velodrome had a very steep raceway that we used for jumps, but the flat areas for practice were nicer than the actual riding part for the competition.
