Welcome to the Casa Mayoral Restaurant! This restaurant is new to the community and I wish them well, but I do not feel they're setting themselves up for success. The Dandelion was in Carson for literally decades and they developed a constant community of seniors that supported the Dandelion daily. They will be sorely missed. The prices that the new restaurant advertises is far beyond the seniors budgets. The other large community surrounding are our students from Cal State Dominguez Hills and they to can't afford a $10 breakfast and a $20 dinner. I went in this morning for the 1st time and checked the menu out. The menu has a the typical 4-to-5 breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings, with the balance of the menu favoring Maricos foods (especially shrimp). Nothing for a health conscious community, no egg white options, and no vegetarian offerings. I share these thoughts because this community has a large percentage of senior citizens and student-athletes from the university who are health conscious. Casa Mayoral also appears to block out or not be concerned with the African American community surrounding. Although they offer grits, they have no condiments African Americans would prefer. So if Casa Mayoral is trying to accommodate primarily the Mexican American community that has money then they'll be fine but where are they? Norms and Denny's are less than a mile up the road and they offer competitive meals at 50% of the price. Both offer specials daily! I saw no affordable specials being advertised and while I was having breakfast I watched 4 seniors walk by the restaurant, recognizing that it's under new management, they read the advertisements on the outside and kept walking. They did not come in and that should be a Casa Mayoral concern. When an institution moves into a community they should know, or come to know that community before they invest. I don't believe this was done. My father supported the Dandelion sonce it opened and so did I. I sadly will most...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised by Casa Mayoral. Came in on a Sunday morning for breakfast and tried:
The Traditional Breakfast French Toast Steak and Eggs
Everything was made fresh to order and I love that the cooks in the back are not too far away from the action. It is familiar in a way that it's a very cozy diner where the servers make you feel welcome and not rushed. The customer service we received was top notch.
Overall: Don't expect anything earth shattering, but if you need a good meal and want real food and not something you'd find at an overpriced burger stand, then give Casa Mayoral. I'm looking forward to coming back to try some of their Mexican/lunch options too as many folks had burritos drenched in steaming ladles of sauce covering their plates. Definitely recommend if you're...
