Tortillas are excellent. Soft but still classic corn. Some people screw this part too easily, they don’t! The bread & meat selection is nice and I’m honestly a fan of the steak ribs (costillas de res). Easily have a tasty lunch and/or dinner! Someone else complained about the cake, as if you can compare to Trader Joe’s, which isn’t authentic at all, but a make shift manufacturer made from god knows how long ago with preservatives and frozen on a shelf. But thats expected from such people. Pointers, for tres leches birthday cakes you should call ahead or go to a mexican bakery that specializes in that. People I can promise you she (the woman who complained) probably doesn’t speak Spanish and the lady was just trying to be nice and write something even though she’s not skilled for it. It’s a different mentality that Americans don’t understand. Despite, they do sell ready made cakes and take away slices. I wouldn’t sleep on a fresh tres leches from a genuine Mexican bakery. Anyway, even if other things aren’t satisfactory to you, you’ll walk away with something tasty thats guaranteed. I don’t work here or live in NC but coming back to visit I always stop by to get some prep for tacos, and bread...
Read moreAll props to the Master Chef himself "Tello". I came to visit family and friends. It's customary for me to find menudo wherever I travel too! I will say. Hats off to the flavor, freshness, and hospitality of the staff at LaBonita! Besides my menudo, Tello's tops them all from California to Florida.... Wisconsin to Texas and all other states in between! Well worth the 3 minute drive from the Airbnb I stayed at! Also, you won't go wrong with their in house made corn tortillas. A very wide and nice selection of pan dolce as well. Carnitas as well! A must stop such a great gem in its location. Lovely.. beautiful.. I enjoyed my morning! Thank you to your staff and to the owners! This location needs to move to a larger location. But you have to take Tello with you! The cashiers were polite and informative as well! Hats off to Tello! Job well done! 5 stars...
Read moreGreat Hispanic Supermarket and Caterer! My sister got married winter of 2020 and she contracted La Bonita to be their caterer. About 75% of the attendees were Mexicans and everyone raved about the food and how authentic it was. They had: tortillas, salsa, barbacoa, carnitas, chicken, rice and beans with Horchata and Agua de Pina as drinks. I know the bride was very grateful to the attention La Bonita gave them in the process leading up to the wedding. I would not only recommend La Bonita as a Hispanic Supermarket and a place to buy pre-made food, but they did great cooking for a wedding of 200 people! 10/10...
