Moxie Cloth — Local services in Castle Shannon

Do not even think about setting foot in this store. I made the mistake of doing so, and I deeply regret it. I went into moxie cloth today for the first time to try to find some loose, flowing tank tops. Their window displays always looked cute, so I figured I'd give them a try. I walked in and was greeted by the female owner. I tried to make chit chat about how I'd never been in before and how nice the store looked, but she ignored me. I browsed around for some tank tops that looked my size (for reference, i'm a size 14 or XL: the national average). She went on to talk to a thin customer and help her pick out a dress, gushing about how beauuutiful the customer was and which dress would be comfortable and cute. I was looking alone, and the male owner came up to me and said, "Looking for a dress?" I held up my tank tops and said "No, I need some tank tops for Pride this weekend." He said, "Oh, well we have some dresses that you might fit into. They're oversized." I wanted to throw the clothes in my hands down and walk right out, but I was determined to have something cute to wear. I turned down his dress suggestion and he walked away. As I went to try on the clothes, more women came in, and I could hear the owners greeting them and gloating about how wonderful they were at their jobs and how they always want the customer to feel beautiful inside and out, which I scoffed at in my dressing room. They made comments about other customers' bodies like "Oh she won't fit in our leggings, she's a size 18." and "Wow that would look so great on you! You have the body for it." I tried on my tanks, which were too long and would make me look like I wasn't wearing any shorts, and left the dressing room. Feeling awful, I looked around one more time while continuing to be ignored by the owners, who were kissing the tush of every thin woman in the store. "Oh, I take the customer through the whole experience," declared the female owner to a thin customer. "I wait outside the dressing room! I want you to feel beautiful!" I marched out of there before I could barf everywhere. These people are heinous and rude, and even thin women should avoid this place. I have never felt so belittled in my life, and I sincerely hope none of you have to go through that experience at this location....

I have never had more woman show me as much compassion that was shown when I walked into this boutique. I traveled up from WV to hangout with my BF as we have been in a short distance relationship, so I simply packed loungewear to change out of my work uniform into and sweats to wear home. When much to my surprise he surprised me with a impromptu "Date Night" I did not have the heart to tell him so didn't pack adequate clothing to go to dinner and a show nonetheless and to my surprise I saw Moxie Boutique in my peripheral and thought let me see if I can find something... I was graciously greeted by the owners Jeanie and Posie two beautiful souls who went out of there way to help me come up with not only something to wear but fit perfectly accentuating my assets and all budget friendly. There was also a beautiful customer who frequents the store that stopped what she was doing to help me go through the racks looking for something to wear they all made me feel so good about myself and ensured I will have a great time and look good on his arm tonight. For that I will always be a regular at this amazing boutique. Lots of great vintage items as well as very eclectic styles. Please do yourself a favor and go check them out!!! I have never been more welcomed or had such a good time shopping at a store. The husband and wife who own the store are amazing, both of them are excellent at helping you find what you need or find an accessory/jacket to really make the outfit work for you- and they will tell you when something works or does not. A lot of the merchandise is very funky, something of a blend of retro and bohemian- but I am certain there is something for everyone in there...you just have to ask the experts(the owners). From what I saw on tags most of the products appear to be made in America and it is a local business: two big pluses for me, that does come with a slightly higher price tag but the difference is small when you see the quality of clothing and service you receive, but really in some cases you are paying maybe 2 dollars more for better quality than from a big chain at the mall.
