Cafe Americano — Restaurant in Castle Shannon

Came in with high hopes and left absolutely outraged. I came into the store and was next in line. I patiently waited for any sort of acknowledgement. After 8 minutes I still had not been acknowledged in any way. No hello, no wave, no "we'll be with you in one second", nothing.

Now I have worked in coffee shops as has my wife. I understand stuff can get busy and I would have been flexible. However the employees acknowledged SEVERAL customers who came in after me or were already there. So I couldn't even get a hello but customers who came in well after me were greeted. I was never rude, waited calmly, quietly and patiently but I guess I wasn't good enough to be acknowledged.

After 10 minutes I finally left completely angry and unacknowledged. I then headed over to another shop where the atmosphere was infinitely better.

I am not one to chalk things up to racial reasons however the only unique factor is that I was the only African American in line or in the store at that time. All caucasian customers were greeted but I was not. While I can't say that this was the reason, in my eyes it was and has forever led me to avoiding this location.

Cafe Americano was recommended by one of my friends. I had the NY style bagel without tomato and the pumpkin cold brew. The chef brought my sandwich personally out to my table which was so nice! It was different from a usual breakfast sandwich because they used hard boiled egg and chopped bacon. The everything bagel was perfectly toasted. Coffee was good too! Great flavor, not too sweet, you add your own creamer. They did have a lengthy coffee menu though I don’t think they had cold foam which is fine.

This cafe was located in a mini mall in Mt Lebo which was kinda nice because there was so much parking! The cafe itself was not overcrowded, plenty of places to sit but also people coming in and out. Experience great food made daily with fresh ingredients by friendly employees at Café Americano. Not only does the he café have free Wifi, enjoyable music and a warm atmosphere for dining in but it is also open for take-out. Of the food options, I love the crepes and paninis the most. My personal favorite is the "Vegie Delight" made with egg, tomato, spinach and onion as well as feta and mozzarella cheese. Delicious!
