While I did not end up utilizing the services of this shop, it had nothing to do with anything negative on their part. My RV broke down in Catlettsburg on my way to Olympia, WA to start a new job. I was told I need a new transmission by one shop but wanted to try and drive it without my car in tow. The hope was that, without the weight of my car, it would take us to Washington state. Well, while testing this, my RV just stopped moving. Kyova Truck Service agreed to get us in quickly, so the RV was towed there. They verified it needed a rebuilt transmission and explained they could put in heavy duty clutches that would allow for me to tow my car. The cost was high, obviously. I don't think they were attempting to gouge me; transmissions are expensive to fix, so I needed some time to think about it. They were extremely kind and accommodating, they allowed me to stay in my RV right outside their shop overnight and dragged it with a forklift for me. They didn't hassle me the next day, even though I likely took way too long to make a final decision. In the end, I decided to go with another shop that sold me a little better with a new transmission with a full warranty. I think Kyova Truck Service would have done a fantastic job, and everyone I talked to was very friendly and honest. So I would still suggest them to anyone with a large truck or vehicle. Even if you're somewhat taken aback by the realization that all of Good Charlotte works on diesel engines now...
They clearly know what they're saying and doing, and they're a new business, hungry for work. I would have liked to give them some. So, if you read this, and you're on the edge, I'd say just go there. They'll be straightforward with you.
They also had very interesting reading material about diesel engines and a cool table made from part of an engine in their little...
Read moreMarch 2, We dropped our truck off at Maxxedout Performance in Catlettsburg Ky to fix the oil pump and was told it would only be a three day job, but the earliest he could get to it was March 9th. They did a pressure test to make sure that was, in fact, the issue with the truck.
I ordered the parts they needed myself and dropped them off once they came in on Monday, March 21st. We were told they would get started on it Wednesday the 23rd. We called Thursday the 24th to check on the truck and was told they hadn’t started on it, but was getting ready to pull it in. We called back Friday, March 25th and they still hadn’t started on it. We called Monday the 28th and they told us that they had people out sick for the reason of not starting yet, which would have been acceptable had they said that initially. March 31st, they said our truck would be ready for pick up on April 1st. They called April 1st and said the rocker arm was broken and had to be ordered. Their mechanic noticed it was broken when the truck was taken apart and didn’t mention it when we ordered parts. They ordered the part and said it should be in on Monday April 4th. We went down to talk to them and inquired why the rocker arm wasn’t mentioned when they gave us the initial parts list if they knew it was broken at that time. They didn’t have an answer. April 12th became the new pick up date, we went to get the truck and they said the fuel lines were wrong and called Nissan about the fuel lines and Nissan said they are the correct lines. We were charged 1700.00 more than the original quote and was also charged for parts they admitted to breaking. Tuesday April 12th , we picked up the truck and one hour after picking it up, we broke down and had to be towed the rest of the way home. The bolt that holds the fuel injectors was not tightened letting them pulsate...
Read moreI had the unfortunate experience of running over a mattress late at night and getting the materials wrapped around my drive shaft. I’ll be honest, I’m always nervous about using a new shop because good ones are so hard to find. After trying for 12 hours to find a wrecker service to tow me to the dealership I was familiar with, 35 miles down the road, these guys said they could have a wrecker to me in less than an hour and would roll the tow bill into my repair bill. I felt like I was backed into a corner so I took their offer and hoped for the best while bracing for the worst. Given the circumstances, I expected to be down at least a few days and that proved to be the case but they communicated every step of the way and were open to my input as well. An unexpected defect was found during repairs and they quickly got that resolved for me too. There weren’t any hidden surprises when it came time for the bill and the quality of work appears to be very good. Overall, my opinion of Maxxedout Performance is very high. I believe they did their best to get my truck back on the road as quickly as they could and I am very satisfied with the transparency and integrity that they seem to operate with. I will not hesitate to use them again should the need arise. The only negative from my perspective was there is no trailer parking. But they seem to be a growing business so something could be in the works that I didn’t discover...
