Metro Records — Local services in Cedar Falls

I'm not the type who normally goes out of his way to write a review, but I had to make an exception. This shop literally has it made to the point that when I give a record shop five stars, it means they have their groove on. Pun intended.

Anyhow, one of the employees ran into me locally at a thrift store establishment searching through the stacks of records and gave me their business card. Since I look for stuff most people don't, I had to give it a whirl. So the next day I telephoned the owner and stopped by to check it out.

As soon as I walked in, I knew they had it going because Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones were playing on the loudspeaker. Heck yeah! Add to that, the prices are so reasonable you can't afford to pass it up. Plus they literally have a ton of "Dollar Bins" to sift through if you're either budget minded or hoping to find a deal of a lifetime.

In the end, after searching through the store for a half hour, I paid for 11 albums at just under $15.00, one of which was a premium item for my own collection at $4.00.

What I'm basically getting at are these folks know what they're doing and they're going to stay in business a very long time, and as long as I'm still alive and kicking, I'll still be going here too.

Don't pass up a good chance at a great store. I normally walk out of stores empty handed, but not at this one. They've got everything from Rock, Pop, Country & Western, etc.... Keep up...

John is a great guy and has a ton of records, CDs, cassettes, etc. Need to stop in! UPDATE: John sold the business to Austin, a great guy and business owner. Transformed the whole place and it's much more customer friendly, although I know that's why some people won't go back - they miss the "flea market digging" atmosphere. I enjoyed my experience at Metro Records. The owner was nice and not pushy in selling me anything. The shop had an easy to figure out organization and plenty of different types of media to shop. Best was that I got no judgement when walking up with a Taylor Swift record for my daughter, LOL. Worth checking out for a solid selection of newer artist/releases and even more old and...
