My daughter is enrolled in group ice skating lessons, and today I had a disappointing experience as a parent. I was standing outside the rink, behind the “Parents not allowed beyond this point” sign, simply watching my daughter through the glass. I wasn’t near anyone, nor was I causing a distraction.
A woman, who identified herself as a director with long curly reddish hair, approached me and told me I could not stand where I was. This was confusing, as I was clearly behind the posted sign, which would reasonably indicate to parents where the boundary is. She then pointed to a retractable rope I had stepped just beyond—no more than two feet—and accused me of having moved it, which I absolutely had not. Being wrongly accused and spoken to in this manner left me feeling upset and harassed.
I only want to joyfully and respectfully watch my child skate. If the rink intends to enforce stricter boundaries than the posted signs suggest, it would be helpful to have clear and consistent signage to avoid confusion. The tone in which the situation was handled felt unnecessary.
Parents come to watch their children grow, learn, and enjoy the sport. I hope the rink considers adjusting its approach so that families can have a more positive and welcoming experience...
Read moreThis is an amazing facility but parking here is an absolute nightmare if there’s anything going on. I went to a medical appointment here today and there was a youth figure skating competition. Parents quickly ran out of places to park so those of us who had found a spot had to try to figure out how to get all of the idling cars to move so that we could pull out while multiple cars were in line for the coveted spot we were freeing up. I saw it happen to 3 other before getting to my car to try to navigate it for myself. Lines of cars, backed up in both directions. I was shocked that no one hit another car. People were very frustrated. No staff to help with the traffic nightmare. I’ve been going here for almost 3 years now and this is becoming more common as the facility looks more to competitive/group events rather than a personal/family venue. If they are going to host big events, they need more parking and staff to help with traffic. Also the wifi leaves a whole lot...
Read moreI like the concept of the Crossover. However, I have to give it a 1-star due to the poorly, inefficiently designed parking accomodations. Who thought it was a good idea to have numerous venues, hundreds of athletes of various types of sports, coaches, parents, vendors, employees, and casual visitors crammed in one area, but then provide just a handful (hyperbole) of parking spaces?!
Today, they decided to block off a section of the parking lot for an event and soccer tournaments. This prevented cars from circling around the parking lot. Between people and atheletes looking for parking spots, parents dropping off their kids for trainings, people needing to turn their cars around because a section was blocked off and could not drive through, it was a DISASTER!
Seriously, they need to come up with a better solution for the parking situation here. Whoever designed this place and whoever gave it an ok surely did not think...
