I attended an event there over the weekend and this venue left a LOT to be desired.
First of all, the seating. I am an average height for a female and my knees were digging into the seat in front of me, which was extremely uncomfortable. The seats are narrow so angling yourself to accommodate this ridiculous lack of depth is ALSO not an option.
Secondly, they have got to work with the ticketing company to have a pre-pay for parking REQUIREMENT for all events. There are no other parking options anyway, so please, make us pay in advance. This will solve the traffic getting into the venue. Thank goodness the event I was attending started late because it took a long time to get everyone’s credit card transactions completed on site. A traffic cop would also be helpful since the general public doesn’t seem to understand how to zipper when merging traffic. The line for parking was literally backed up onto the freeway.
Finally, the foot traffic was ridiculous when we were leaving. The merch setup made it impossible to simply pass by—the venue event coordinator needs to work with the merch coordinator to setup in a way that doesn’t block the flow traffic. The line absolutely could have been to the side of, and not in front of, the merch booth. There was plenty of space for this.
I cannot see myself spending money to attend an event at this venue again. We sat in section 103 on row I, so these weren’t even the worst seats in the house. It would have to be an event that I was absolutely unable to live without attending for me to willingly go be that uncomfortable again.
The facility itself was very clean, the staff at the concession stand was pleasant, the concession prices weren’t awful for an event venue—I paid $19ish for 2 large soft pretzels and a soda and everything tasted good.
Security was relatively quick, though they could have added an additional line for bag check to speed up the process. One of the people in my group had to get wanded after the pass through scan and the designated area for that didn’t really provide enough space for us to wait, which was required because only one person had our group’s tickets. There is sufficient outdoor space that this also could have been laid out to help with overall efficiency. It wasn’t a big deal, but the venue likely sees larger crowds than what we attended (and our event did have a huge turnout, but they likely have events with an additional 200 or so attendees by my amateur estimate).
We loved the event that we attended, but the venue itself was lacking. I have attended events at similar sized venues with much better event planning/executions by the venue, and more comfortable...
Read moreWhat a nightmare location/staff!!! It took us 1.5 hrs to drive 1 mile into the venue from the highway. It would have probably gone a lot smoother if they were not being greedy and charging for parking, and actually paid professionals and not high school kids (who were all standing around talking to each other, eating, or on their phones and shrugging their shoulders at peoples questions) to do crowd control and direct parking/traffic. 2 kids directing 3 lanes of traffic funneling in standing TOGETHER on the right, shrugging and pointing for cars to turn left. People were literally driving over cones to go around to another grass section. What a joke. We had tickets for the 7:00, did not get into the building until 8:00, the show was almost over. Luckily we were able to switch to the 10:00 thanks to an awesome box office manager, Michael. He saved the night. They did not stagger floor seating so you couldn’t see anything except the back of heads, just watched the screens. The venue sent an email the DAY before warning about getting there early. Fair, but maybe a few weeks notice would have been nice since people have jobs and kids and stuff and cannot drop everything to leave 4 hours before a show starts because clearly the company who runs this venue is either inexperienced and underpaid, or just incompetent. Also, I can confidently say that even if we tried to get there at 5:30, the traffic and parking would have been an equal nightmare since we got onto the exit ramp on New Hope at 5:55! Get it together, don’t book two gigs back to back if you can’t handle it! A lot of peoples nights were ruined, tons of money wasted, I hope this never happens to another crowd. I think the H-E-B Center should answer for this,...
Read moreWent to see a concert and the venue is very nice for the most part. Very attractive outside and very clean, even in the bathrooms. The seats are worn and dated. We had cheap seats and they lived up to that name. It seems the father away from the stage, the closer the rows are crammed together. The last section is like old movie theaters. If you have a seat in the middle of the row, 14 people have to stand up and turn sideways for you to get to your seat. They don't have a big screen, so if the artist doesn't bring one, you better have some opera glasses or something to be able to make out the performers. Overall the concert was good and I would go see someone here again, but will definitely get tickets closer to the stage.
One note about the concessions. I know venues are concerned about bottled drinks becoming projectiles. I have been to many concerts where they sell you a bottle of water or soda but keep the cap and it makes sense. Here, however, they were selling 20oz water/soda bottles and then pouring them into a paper cup with a lid and straw. Basically generating twice the volume of trash as needed to sell drinks. In the age of global warming this seems pretty ridiculous in my opinion. I gave $11.50 for 1 bottle of water and 1 bottle of Gatorade. So they profited $9.50 on that one sale. I'm sure they could afford to setup soda fountain machines for the cup/straw/lid and thereby avoid bags of wasted plastic bottles. I expected better from a place with the...
