I used to love this store, but every experience I have had there in the past year has been unfavorable. I am a credit card holder and periodically get coupons in the mail for 15% off. When I tried to make a purchase using this coupon, I was told I could not pay with a gift card, only my credit card. The cashier was very rude about it. The store was practically empty and in a time when retail stores are closing left and right, I asked her why she was discouraging business. There was a woman in line behind me who said she just used the coupon with a gift card in another department. After asking to speak to a manager, I was allowed to use the gift card. Also, the past two purchases I have made since then have been defective products. I bought a purse there around Christmas time and about a month later the lining tore. I kept it, but had to sew the lining. I also bought a leather wallet and 3 weeks later the side seam split and all my change was falling out. Both products were leather from name brand manufacturer. I don't know if it is the store's merchandise or the manufacturer, but I am certainly not hard on products. Both the purse and the wallet which were leather should have lasted for years. Returns are a major hassle. When I returned the wallet, they refused to give me a cash refund only a store credit. I paid cash for it and it was defective, I felt I should have gotten my cash back. I don't want to write off this store, but I think they are going down hill. I have been giving my business to Kohl's. They have better quality merchandise and NO...

Read moreBoscov's is an old fashion department store that holds onto values those of us seasoned shoppers find valuable. They have many of the brands you you would expect to see in a " slightly" upscale department store, at prices you will be happy to see. We live out west, but I have lived in the midwest and northeast for decades previously. Everytime we visit family in the NE Pittsburgh area, we make the trip to Boscov's in Butler. The concept of the Treasure hunt is alive and well here. The sales they run, discounts in virtually every department, and the extensive candy counter on the second floor always have us purchasing things we had no idea we needed. Their return policy seems very flexible as in the rare instances that we needed to return an item, it was always accommodated. What other store, could you buy an evening gown, then head upstairs to "The Auditorium" for a made for TV item you saw on a late night infomercial. My mother is elderly, and loves it when we're in town as she looks forward to her trips to Boscov's. Her only complaint is they only have one restroom, and it's on the second floor. One of the challenges as we get...
