Do not trust them when you are buying tomatoes. I bought tomatoes on sale for 99 cents per lb. Got home to find they charged me $2.99 per lb for hydro tomatoes. It was local OH tomatoes that were on sale, and what I purchased. Went in to get it corrected, got home and again found they still overcharged me saying I bought Ark tomatoes and charged me $1.79 per lb for them. I have had this problem before with another Giant Eagle and charging for hydro tomatoes when they were not, but it was corrected the first time. To drive back and get it corrected again, I will be in the hole for gas cost.
Amendment to my original review: Gave one more star now but not for the particular store. It was for Giant Eagle in general. I wrote a complaint in one of their online surveys and this morning I received an apology email along with they have credited me $6 onto my Advantage card for the troubles I had. Giant Eagle in whole is a good company and will make things right. Shopping there is a little expensive, but what is not expensive now a days? I probably will steer clear of this particular store, but definitely will continue to shop at their other locations. Walmart does not have...
Read moreThey seem to have cornered the market on poor in-store stocking layout. It's not well organized, items are hard to find on your own, & it's rare for an employee to actually stop their activity to help you find anything. Things are often out of stock, or lack the variety of other stores. (Ex: Breyer's ice cream, why no "chocolate truffle"? Walmart and other GE in town both carry it!) My other complaint is the attitude of the checkout clerks. They seem to think work time=break time; ignore you, the customer who has the money from whence their paycheck comes, and spend your transaction time chatting with their buddies. If you interrupt with a question, they act exasperated and annoyed. One learns to hold any iquiries unless they find themselves with noone of consequence with which to chat. One other annoyance is the dedicated checkout line for the deli is also a low volume line, but you won't know this until you proceed through, cart loaded with a full range of products including your deli items, displaying your ignorance on what items can be rung up together, and which must be treated as loners. Dang customers!...
Read morePurchased items today for both personal and business use (would be reimbursed). Didn’t sweat two purchases and receipts as I can itemize based off one receipt. After purchase I asked to use a “store card” as I’m not local and don’t need the whatever savings card this store uses. They obliged. Great!
After using my debit card I asked for a receipt. They told me it would be emailed to the account linked to my savings card. I reminded them I used theirs and would need a receipt. Someone from (I believe) customer service came over and tried but since the cashier had begun ringing up the customer behind me they apparently couldn’t print a receipt any longer?
It’s 2023. You can’t print a receipt? What in the 1998 point of sale system are you using? Absurd. Most places would go out of their way to ensure a customer is provided a receipt. Instead everyone looked at me like I was in the wrong until...
