Loralei's Boutique — Local services in Centerville

The most horrendous customer service I've ever experienced. Shopping trips Lorelai's used to be a staple of my visits to my mom's home, but after the last two times, I doubt we'll be returning.

We were never greeted when we entered the store, never asked if we needed any help, and were brushed off when we asked for a fitting room ("That's a bathroom." Well ok, then. That's not what I asked you, but fine).

The icing on the cake was checkout - while handling our sale, the saleswoman was on the phone with another seller arguing about pricing. She handled the whole transaction without verbally acknowledging us, only reaching out her hand to take our merchandise and our money. The only break she took in her conversation was to stare at us, bewildered, as we waited at the counter for a "thank you."

Maybe it's time to shop at the non-consignment stores in Centerville from now on. We don't really need to deal with grotesque attitudes just for the pleasure of buying other people's clothes.

Last week I had the opportunity to sit down with Loralei's Boutique General Manager Barbara Claude Pierre. When I asked what set Loralei's apart from the other boutique shops located in the Heart of Centerville, Barb was quick to point of that they were a consignment shop that sells gently worn, premium/designer brand clothing. She said that owner Laurie Smalley keeps the inventory fresh by insuring it stays strictly seasonal and only allows items to remain on display for 90 days at a time. She splits the sale price 50/50 with the consignors that she partners with. Even though the boutique has only been open 2 years, Laurie and Barb have more than tripled the consignors and customers. One question that I always like to ask is, "What item do you sell that customers often don't realize?" Barb said, "That is an easy question. We are a great place to buy or consign your Prom or Homecoming Dress." I have been shopping here for years, and I can’t say enough good things about it! The inventory is impressive, with a fantastic selection of stylish, high-quality clothing at unbeatable prices. I have found several amazing pieces that I absolutely love!

What really stands out to me, though, is the exceptional customer service. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help me find exactly what I am looking for.

I also appreciate that this shop is doing its part to combat clothing waste. By promoting pre-loved fashion, they’re not only saving us money but also contributing to a more sustainable future. It’s a win-win!
